Cordarrelle Patterson Most Exciting UT Player Since?

Chuck Web and Stanley Morgan! Tenn. would have probably won the NC if Webb had stayed for his senior season! Morgan was the best non-quarterback player on the field for 4 years!

In terms of razzle-dazzle elusiveness, Condredge probably is the best comparison. However, for straight-away, explosive speed and a threat to score on any play, particularly kick returns, we cannot forget Willie Gault.

I've been watching UT games for a long time and I really believe that CP is as talented a football player as anybody that's played here. Granted, he is not as good a receiver as some of the greats we've had i.e...Peerless Price, Alvin Harper, Tim McGee, Carl Pickens. However, he is as good with the ball in his hands as anyone I've seen...up there with Chuck Webb. I actually believe CP could of easily been a 1,000 yd rusher had we put him at tailback this year.

Charlie Garner. Patterson is the most exciting I have ever seen including Willie Gault.

I'll not lament Cordarelle Patterson's departure to the NFL or enter into the speculation that he might change his mind. I will offer this thread as a tribute to the moments he has given us.

I searched my memory of UT football teams and players going back to the mid-Sixties. In terms of players who really had fans (or me at least) anticipating something spectacular might happen any time he had the ball, I had to go back almost that far to Condredge Holloway.

I think opinions on this will be very interesting, because we have seen so many impact players pass through the program. I do, of course, wish Cordarelle Patterson would not pass through it quite so fast.

ummmm ERIC BERRY!!!!

Peerless price . When I was little this dude was a god . His name plus his deep ball catching ability we're awesome. Except for the nfl the guy had a great football life

Can this be the CP finale? Geeze. Funny how they have the same initials; though. CP.

Berry is every bit what CP is albeit at another position. Webb the same thing IMO. (and let's not forget Webb did most of his playing as a RSFr, not JUCO transfer) Most of the other names mentioned looked pretty worthy. Gault was certainly faster but not near as "elusive" as CP. Garner was as elusive but lacked the stature and pure speed. (though plenty fast himself) J Lewis before his injury wasn't as elusive but he could make you miss and was otherwise a remarkable combination of size and speed.

No doubt CP is a very special talent with a VERY rare blend of pure speed, make-you-look-stupid open field ability and solid size. I hate we only got one season to see him in the Orange.

Eric Berry...not sure he could stop on a dime like CP but Berry's on field awareness and vision with the ball is second to none. Berry was the greatest VOL of the 2000's. He took away half a field on every defensive play.

He is definitely one of the most exciting players I have ever seen. If I had to pick one player comparable to CP it would be CP (Carl Pickens).

Agree, can't believe it took until the third page to see his name. Price was a BEAST in KR's and WR. He was always one missed tackle away from taking it to the house.

Brent Schaeffer.

Great athletic prowess and so much promise for UT.

Sigh.....

Yeah, that opening game move where he just stopped on the dime and let the tackler pass on by, and then walked into the endzone. He had potential.

At the 3:52 mark...

But Chuck and CP are the two most shifty guys I can ever remember at UTK. It was comical at times to watch guys whiff on them.

:peace2:Anybody rember WILLIE.

I've been waiting for someone to post Willie. As a huge Gault fan, i think CP is more electric because of his size, speed and change of direction.

Both made me hold my breath everytime they touched the ball.

Webb could run full speed with his torso parallel to the ground...incredible combination of size, speed, balance, vision, shake, power, and elusiveness.

If it's A player, have to go with Condredge Holloway, nobody electrified Neyland as much until CP arrived.

He's the most exciting offensive player that I've watched play in the orange and white during my lifetime.
