i understand them calling it for taunting and flagrant plays, but the players should be able to have some fun after a big play,if there going to call that a penalty, shouldn't it also be on for giving the first down arm shot too? which i am tired of seeing lol

Does anyone know anything about Patterson's eligibility status for next year?

Let's look at the options here...

Can go to pros and sign for $16-18 million with half guarenteed

Or

Return to a dumpster fire

hated the call BUT apparently he was warned on his first TD ( when he did a little high stepping) that if he did it again it would be a penalty. So have to say he was told not to do it...

LOL @ everyone ignoring this and acting like the refs slapped them in the face.

The rule says no high stepping and the coaches were the ones that wanted the rule added.

i miss the days when players could do anything they wanted to i.e. the canes in the 80s. I think that adds to the fun of the sport. IMO there is a difference between taunting other players and showing off when you score a td.

I don't know who threw the flag, but I would love to see a video of the play. They didn't put it in the highlight video of the game...which I thought was pretty dumb.

SN: The fact that Mizzou only had 2 penalties the entire game was a joke.

I could have sworn that have at least 5 offside penalties.

That was a stupid penalty on CP to take the TD away. I can see 15 yds like every other taunting penalty but taking points away is a whole new level and that is the 1st time I've ever seen them take points away! Way over the top from the officials.

I just can't understand why kids can't celebrate a bit after a touchdown or big play if it doesn't cause any delay. Let them have a little fun for all the work they put into their sport. Change the rule to allow the guy to high step a few times and toss the ball to the closest zebra.

It was a bad call.
Watching the Oregon Cal game, an Oregon Wide Receiver high stepped into the endzone without any defender near him. Line red running with him, no flag. Just goes to show ya all refs aren't created equal. It was a definate violation of the unsportsmanlike conduct rule.

Which would mean that it was a bad no call in that game.

I hate the rule. It's stupid. But the refs did their job.

Sorry.

Also, who cares? We scored right after.

Anybody remember Trey Burton doing the Gator Chomp in the end zone after a UF TD vs. us? No Penalty.
Two weeks before, when the Gators were just barely hanging on vs. Bowling Green, a Bowling Green player got whistled for the VERY SAME THING in the end zone after scoring on UF.
BTW, when the LSU punter got called vs. Alabama last year, there was no one near him. At the 5 yard line a Mizzou defender nipped at CP's heels, and for all CP knew he might have had company.

I think the whole team should realize that they have not done anything to celebrate about this season! Just hand the ball to the ref and do the high five or whatever and go to the sideline!

I never saw who threw the flag but I did see that douche Allama Matthews multiple times during the game. Was he the idiot who threw that flag?

I thought that flag would only be thrown if you were taunting opposing players. What a bogus penalty.

Just because Fulmer is gone is NO excuse to let that candy vandy peabody loser back into our stadium. Matthews is about as honorable as Patrino or Biden!

It goes by the rule. Can't blame the ref.

Blame the dumbasses that made the rule.
No it doesn't. He high stepped to avoid the shoestring tackle, and just carried it through for a few steps as he went into the end zone. Agreed, it is a stupid rule, period. But even then, he didn't break the rule and there should NEVER, EVER be a denial of points due to a celebration. At the very worst, apply the 15yds to the kickoff.

He changed his stride on the way into the endzone after being clear of other players.

By rule, that's a violation.

Everyone's argument is against the rule. The ref did what he thought was right.

The only other time I've seen it was on LSU's kicker on that fake field goal last year.

Agreed it is bogus.

Wing was actually tauting CP wasn't. Wing turned sideways and held his arms out tauting the defense. CP was just celebrating by himself. Immediately after scoring the next touchdown the Missouri player saluted the crowd. Which is worse? What about that gay Gator chop? Your right about it being a bogus call.
