Corey Raymond out at UF. Will Heupel go after him?

This kind of stuck out when I read it...

The defense only recorded three interceptions in all 12 games, which was last in the conference. As a whole, the defense only forced seven total turnovers, which is second-to-last in the entire country. They only ranked ahead of Temple.
This is what stuck out to me
Raymond’s recruiting, not his coaching, was his major selling point. The 2023 class featured six 4-star prospects at defensive back.

A number had roles as true freshmen, led by starting safety Jordan Castell of West Orange. First-year freshman defensive backs accounted for 1,759 snaps and 15 starts.

Starting a bunch of true freshmen at defensive back is not a recipe for success in the SEC. Even Saban would be set up for failure in this scenario. Have no idea how good or bad he is though.

Keep in mind this post and the video on other thread are 5mos old... However having said that it's probably relevant as Heup is known for promoting from within so will likely elevate Cory Robinson once Willie Martinez contract expires.

Saints have had good secondary past several years so that's a feather in his cap, may help in recruiting, northeast ties are nice.

But on surface would be underwhelming

That reject was the best DB coach in the game. And a huge recruiter. Now he’s 54 with a ton of ties to LA high schools and still probably one of the top 10 DB coaches in the game. Does that sound like it might be an upgrade over what we currently have?

The escape goat is a Volnation classic! Years (maybe even decades) before any VN post was "Nited", the Escape Goat roamed the boards. It may even predate the Pre-Madonna and Pocket Presents...
Anyone remember “Wheel be find.” And “He run like deer baby ok?” $5 to anyone who remembers the posters name…

Good point.

DB is one spot where a lack of experience can be a real detriment.
