Coronavirus (No politics)

Pfizer finally published their results with paxlovid and seems to hold up really well to what the interim results that the press reported on showed. 89% reduction in hospitalization and 0 deaths compared to 12 who received placebo among those high risk for severe covid.

Good news is that even in the future we see variants that evade immunity whether it be vaccination or prior infection this drug had high barrier to drug resistance and likely would still be very effective.
Bad news it is 30 pills over 5 days and will interact with a lot of other meds so will need to be carefully monitored.

I don't usually comment on this stuff, but isn't this textbook Post Hoc fallacy? Seemingly, nobody has escaped an Omicron spike and it seems to disappear as fast as it arrives. Don't we have enough evidence now to say that a virus is going to do virus things regardless of policy?

Masking has been shown to be a sham and he's still pushing it. Has he seen the numbers in mandate states vs free states?

The virus is going to do virus things regardless of what we do. The sooner people love you shut that the sooner the world returns to a more normal state

“Does Ivermectin prevent covid illness?” The answer is “neigh.”

Efficacy of Ivermectin on Disease Progression in Patients With COVID-19

Key Points
Question Does adding ivermectin, an inexpensive and widely available antiparasitic drug, to the standard of care reduce the risk of severe disease in patients with COVID-19 and comorbidities?

Findings In this open-label randomized clinical trial of high-risk patients with COVID-19 in Malaysia, a 5-day course of oral ivermectin administered during the first week of illness did not reduce the risk of developing severe disease compared with standard of care alone.

Meaning The study findings do not support the use of ivermectin for patients with COVID-19.

Newest CDC COVID Death Rates by Age and Vaccination Status (includes 1st 3 weeks of Omicron wave). Even without a booster, vaccines still lowered death rates up to 15X.
