Cotton Bowl - Florida vs Oklahoma

Here’s what I don’t get...why didn’t the BCS (which created a bonafide national title game for the first time) not cheapen the other bowls, but adding just one more layer (a semifinal, then a final) render the other bowls worthless? I mean, under the old system you couldn’t win a title if you weren’t #1 or #2, but teams outside the top 2 still seemed to care about the other bowls.

I don’t disagree at all that guys don’t care about non-playoffs bowls now, but why didn’t that attitude exist with the BCS? Seems like there’s been a culture change as well.
The "student athlete" concept has failed. The ease of the transfer portal means if an elite athlete is unhappy or "under utilized" or whatever, they aren't loyal to their school...... they do what is best for themselves. If a championship or NY6 bowl comes, that's fine, but what matters most is that they find somewhere they shine as individuals.

Bowls and championships and teams may matter to coaches and fans but truly elite players are mercenary because they are..... within 2-3 years out of high school..... worth millions if they NOT A TEAM, =THEY= shine.

You can't get past JT Barrett and Haskins? No problem, Joe.....LSU will take you in. Tua beat you out for Q1? Worry not, Jalen.....Oklahoma is here for you. Problems with the system in GA, Justin? Ohio State has your back.

Gone are the days where a player is a Vol For Life. If TN isn't going to provide a place for a star to shine, they'll be no stars...... bowls...... championships. That's just reality.
