I somewhat agree with the poster. People aren’t being realistic about how much better hooker made this team. People aren’t being realistic about how sub par Milton is. We don’t have a great chance at winning against a tough opponent with Milton. I just question how much a loss at a big bowl season end hurts recruiting, etc.

People know exactly how good Hooker was. Another poster made a good point about Milton being able to show his stuff against a better team in the Orange Bowl. Would tell Heupel and the fans a lot more about him than playing a G5 team and I agree with that poster. At the end of the day, losing a bowl game won’t do a thing to recruiting. Recruiting is all about opportunity and now how good of an NIL deal the kid can. Fortunately we have a lot to offer in both areas.

You can miss me with the "we don't want to play a top 10 team' business. It's a bowl game and a chance to build for the future, a top 10 team would be exactly who I'd want to play. Would be great for the program. You should always want to play the best. What a statement it could be to beat a really good team after that USCjr let down, without Hooker and others. Would be like the big Kansas win in basketball in 2010 without 3 key players.

Milton threw for 100 some yards against vandy. 50-60 of that on one play very early. I don’t think I want to see what he does against a better team. We already know. We will get to watch overthrow after overthrow unfortunately.

I wish you were right. Don’t expect the same rushing success that we had vs Vandy. We had what? 3-4 break always for 50+ yards. Whoever we draw has better coaches than this silly redneck. I’d make Milton show he can throw the ball. They’ll do exactly the same.

oh I very well could be wrong, maybe I'm optimistic, I just want to see us play the best team we can play and see what we got here. Beating a mediocre team in a bowl means little to me, but that's just me. Everyone is different. We all know Hooker is vital to the team's success, so seeing us play a big time team without him is something that will let us know what we have for next year and will be huge for the confidence of the guys coming back, and a building block for the future. What better way to end the seaosn than a big win over a good team, without our star player and likely at least 5 other starters? (I am including the guys already out due to injury, not predicting guys opting out)

If that’s the case, Josh better be scouring the transfer portal for a starter then. Because I don’t believe Jackson or Nico will be ready for the fire right out of the gate next year. I’d like to see what Joe can do after a month’s practice with the first team and the team being all his to lead. That will tell everyone more than what he’s been doing the last 2 years playing mop up.

Is a guaranteed win better for us or a look at what this team will look like vs real competition? Never hurts to get a gauge on where we need to address in the portal. I’m with you I don’t necessarily feel overly confident with this defense and Milton at QB vs some top tier teams. I do think we matchup well vs some teams though if Milton can be even average at the qb position.

Might actually help recruiting a portal qb…. 😂

Clemson I’m not sure how well they matchup with us honestly. If we can’t beat them this year with Milton then we need to address the qb position in he portal.
