Could Florida Fall to .500?

Very tough but teams have to work through injuries. Similar to what we experienced in 2011 when we had all these injuries 2 years ago:

Justin Hunter
Tyler Bray
Brent Brewer
Herman Lathers
Daniel Hood
Mo Couch
Marlin Lane
Curt Maggitt
Greg King

The guys I listed are season injuries did list the guys lost for 2-4 games. It's part of the business and is the main reason Muschamp gets another year.

Now that they are falling into the place where we were at, you won't be seeing much of them on here anymore. The subtle kicking us when we were down is over.

I'd seen very few Gator posters here that just showed up to troll. The regular Gator posters have been here for years and I doubt they're going anywhere.

Taking a look at Florida's schedule for the rest of the year, it's not completely implausible that they could fall to 6-6 or 5-7, and Will Muschamp could be on the hot seat.

vs. Georgia - just got a big piece to the offense back. Itll be ugly and low scoring. UGA in a close one.
vs. Vanderbilt- Even when they are bad they make enough plays to beat Vandy.
@ South Carolina- Away from home, no offense to speak of, to much Davis and Shaw. Champ gives pease the stare
vs. Georgia Southern- W
vs. Florida State- If they keep rolling the way they are this game should be a snooze fest by half.

The good news for the Gators is that 3 of the next 5 are at home (with one neutral site game in Jacksonville). They also have a freebie versus Georgia Southern. But three of those games look very difficult and even the Vandy one could be problematic.

I know our Vols are probably going to do no better than 6-6 or 7-5, but we're also rebuilding. Based on recruiting rankings, the Gators actually appear to be the 2nd most talented team in the SEC. For them to go 6-6 would be a surprise.

I do think the Gators are good enough to beat all those teams, but if you asked me to pick a favorite in every game, I'd pick UGA, SCe, and Florida State over Florida. Then again, maybe they'll surprise us and beat UGA and SC, and win the SEC East.

Just the way I see it panning out.

Florida's offensive line has been awful this year, a combination of injuries and bad schemes for the talent we have.

Here's a decent article about the crapiness of the O-line and the effect it has had on offensive production.

Gators left tackle D.J. Humphries out 2-4 weeks with knee injury - Orlando Sentinel

I think most UF fans are like me, a combination of understanding that recruiting prior to now has been in the image of a run option offense, but getting frustrated that not much seems to be getting done to change that long term.

Where are the speedsters? The passing QB's? I miss fun 'n gun and cannot understand why we are not moving back in that direction. Even the QB recruit we've landed is listed as dual threat. Stop it. Go get a smart kid with a sharp eye and who can throw. Then bring back the track stars we used to have at WR.

Big difference between urban and will, sir.

Not saying Muschamp wasn't the right hire at the time for Florida. After all, we wanted him and he turned us down. It has to be concerning though that Muschamp was part of one of the most underachieving staffs in CFB. The way Texas recruits, they have no excuse for their record over the years. Now Muschamp recruits lights out at Florida and so far underachieves given his talent. It's more of an example of how hard it is to hire the right coach no matter who you are.

On the flip side, Urban had a history of winning conference titles, turning around programs and was very successful. Butch has a history of winning titles too and looks the part so far(little early to know for sure). Dooley had ties to Saban so we thought he could recruit. Total fail just like his previous record. Maybe record isn't looked at enough these days and it's not "all" about recruiting.

Florida lucked into the Urban hire because they only had 1 bad coach after Spurrier. Bama went through several coaches before Saban. We went through 2 after Fulmer. LSU went through several before Miles. Notre Dame, SoCal etc...If Florida gets rid of Muschamp in the future, the next one is no guarantee. In fact you're due for another dud on your next hire.

My take is similar to yours.

Pease is toast, and Muschamp is coaching for his job in 2014.

If that's the case, how in the world does he get a good OC? I think that's how Dooley wound up with Sal. Tough sledding for sure and if there's any fan base that knows how that is it's us. I would not be shocked if Foley pulls the trigger after this year if FL finishes below 500.

Muschamp sinks or swims with Joker Phillips as his OC in 2014.

Interesting scenario.

I guess the question is can he pull it off with what is on campus and can the D pull the slack when it cant.

Muschamp is in a corner.

Muschamp is such a difficult coach to know what to make of. His defenses have been brilliant at times. Yet, Florida inexplicably falls apart regularly, as well. Even during last year's great run, the Gators got thwaped by a Louisville team that they should have theoretically beat handily.

Frankly, I don't know what to make of Muschamp. He could win a national title 3 years from now, or he could go 5-7. He has an intensity and strategic knowledge of the game that make his upside high. Yet, it's like there's something missing. (Maybe that something is an offensive coordinator!)

I think a good oc and muschamp is in there. Lets hope that don't happen :)

Good leaders don't get "unhinged" at the first sign of adversity. How many times have we seen Muschamp lose his cool on the sidelines. Players respect a coach that exudes solid confidence, leads them through adverse moments, admonishes in a tactful manner. Muschamp has issues.

Had a coach that would get unhinged in games nobody cared about that playing for him if anything made you work harder. This isn't cheer practice.

I think it's more you hate him than his antics. Plenty of coaches over the years have acted like him on the sideline and it wasn't that big of a deal. We've had people praise Jones for going off because it shows he "has passion", and we've had people criticize Cuonzo Martin for not being animated enough.

There's plenty to criticize Muschamp for, but this is a reach, especially about the players respecting part.

Wild guess:

-Gators finish 6-6 (4-4)
-Pease fired
-Muschamp starts next season on hot seat
-???
-Tennessee beats Florida in Neyland

You guys are supposed to blindly hate whoever coaches UF.

It's science.

The good thing for Florida is that they are still the best team in their state and that will help with recruiting.

Harder than Gruden to UT?

It will be the best job on the market in 2014-15...and hell be looking the way Philly has looked. Win-win.

Chip K. is in his 1st season as an NFL HBC.

The Eagles front office isn't going to release him after 2 seasons unless the team goes 0-16 and that is a scenario that's not going to occur.
