Could we pull off singing Rocky Top in its entirety during a game as a crowd?

I was reading a message board and they were talking about the atmosphere at European soccer matches with the songs the crowd collectively sings and how electric it is.

Someone's reply was---we don't have those type of songs that are stadium song friendly.

I immediately thought of Rocky Top. Do you think we could pull off singing the entire song?

If this got serious support, we could make flyers, which would be a great excuse to talk to cuties before the game, I digress, with a coordinated time we all start singing Rocky Top with the lyrics on the card.

If you know the lyrics pass the card on, and if you don't keep the card with the lyrics on it.

We could synchronize watches for 6 minutes left in the 2nd quarter.

Could be an epic moment.

Ok now it's getting ridiculous.

I don't see this happening. The chorus is enough, that's all people really care about.

Minus the Woooo, of course! :)

Would the crowd be aided by the band? Because there's no way 100,000 people can collectively sing a song in its entirety without sounding like s***. A lot of people can't keep a tempo for more than 5 seconds.

Soccer stadiums sing long drawn out songs in England and it's a pretty cool atmosphere, and I think our school's de facto song is superior anyhow so I def think it's doable.

As far as getting the band involved, I'd be all
For it, but I think the raw awesomeness of just 100,000 fans singing a song that is relevant, and once the chorus hits, it would seriously be ELECTRIC in the stadium.

On this note, I went to an MLS pre-season game in Bradenton a couple of weeks ago between Chicago and Orlando. The Orlando team had a group of about 75-100 fans and they sang songs the entire game. It was hysterically awesome.

I'm not comparing this to what goes on in the English Premier or other fake kickball leagues but it was entertaining non-the-less.

I still don't see how you get 85-90K people to do this.

Good idea but it will probably be about as successful as the fist up thing.

UT fans have never been a "unison" cheering bunch like other schools. The Woooo (sadly) is as close as we get.

They sure are good at telling the loud fans to sit down, though.

All those who need a card to sing Rocky Top please exit the stadium immediately...
