Hi All,

I am new to the message board and have signed up with the intention of asking a question in regards to football games in Knoxville.

Quick background: 4 friends and I, all from NY, make a trip to a college football rivalry game every year and look to have the best experience possible.

We have purchased tickets for the Tennesse/Florida game on October 4th. We are trying to do some research on best modes of transportation, tailgating, bars, etc. We have decided we will be renting an RV and driving from NY to TN on the Friday before the game. We are trying to find the best place to tailgate with our rented RV, or a place to tailgate after leaving the RV in a lot somewhere around Knoxville. We have done some research and see that we can park our RV in the "Blackstock Lot" or the "Knoxville Civic Auditorium." Would we be able to have a great gameday experience staying around these places and tailgating?

I found some website called Tailgate Tennessee, or something like that, and they apparently rent tents/tables/etc. to tailgate in a park near the stadium. The price for two tables and a tent is $500. I'm not sure if this is a good price, location, etc. Last year we drove to Clemson for the game against Florida State and took two cars, brought our own tailgating equipment, and still spent $350 on one parking spot alone.

Also, if this is a day game, where are the best places around the area to go out after the game? Will we be able to leave our RV in any lot for an extended period of time?

Will the bookstore or local stores be open on gameday? We'll be in search of tons of orange gear for the day.

Again, we are looking to have the BEST gameday experience possible and want to experience all Knoxville has to offer. Have heard great thing about Neyland Stadium and am counting down the days to our trip. Any help or guidance on any of this would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks and Go Vols!!
John
