Country music thread

As I now have a two month old son and it is apparent that drinking and listening to sad country songs till midnight is not a sustainable hobby anymore, I have decided to collect vinyls and ordered a new entry level record player that should be here today. Unfortunately my Tyler Childers vinyl is stuck in Memphis but will hopefully be here tomorrow.

So far I’m seeing all of these this year. If that’s how the year ends, I’d be damn happy.
Kolby Cooper
Tanner Usrey
Zach Bryan
Cole Chaney
Logan Halstead
Pecos and the rooftops

I don’t get the hype around Halstead. I’ve tried to listen to his songs several times and it just doesn’t click with me.

AA at the Bijou in March
Saw that. I’ll likely see them again in May when they’re back in Winston Salem. Thought about buying an earlfest bundle to see them there as well, but $100 just for the Sunday Turnpike ticket was enough for me

Edit: Floydfest… not earlfest

The new AW is probably as close to his older stuff that we’ve gotten in a long time. Love it.

I think he’s just happy and content in life. That makes it really hard to write about hardship, lost love, struggles, etc. he seems to have a good grasp on any demons that may try to haunt him which is great for his life, but doesn’t make for my kind of music. I liked early Brad Paisley stuff honestly, and I think the same thing happened to him.

That said the new Pat Green song is way too polished, clean and mushy love. All the things I say I can’t stand. But for some reason I like it.

I never expect much heartbreak stuff from AW, I expect the love songs, ballads, etc. but it’s the production that I’m glad he’s switching up. He was getting borderline radio country there for a while. A lot more steel in this one.

Flatland rolling through in March, I may need to pass since Chattanooga isn't out-and-back distance anymore, plus its the week after American Aquarium. Hopefully they do an Asheville show next time east.
