Country music thread

“So pack light and love heavy, give it all your heart and soul, so in the end you won’t regret one thing… life is like Bluebonnets in the spring. Life is like Bluebonnets in the spring…”

I absolutely love this song and don’t think I’ll ever tire of it
Such a great tune. Texas Lullaby came on today and man I love that one too.

When I saw Aaron in Greenville I told him at the meet and greet that my first favorite was "When the Aggies Move to Austin" and he laughed and said I must be pretty old.

Well he’s not wrong. I feel old for remembering Lonely Lubbock Nights

I mean slice I think we've got a welcoming group here all in all. I've hung with a few of the thread regulars and had a heck of a time, we may just love to give ****.

I think that some of us, me included, feel that radio country is like steak from Denny's, it's not awful but its not nearly as good as what comes from the songwriters.

Also, Jamie noticed that Noch and myself were the most animated people in sight for Tough Folks, and got a kick out of Bill singing BFD since Bill has lived a healthy life.

@Dallasbowlin you're coming next February.
I have no issues with what you like. I like it too. I take issue with gatekeepers that feel the need to trash people that like things they don’t. That’s not you. You have expressed why you like what you do and are ok if others like radio country. I’m speaking to the Bama fan mentality gate keepers. The ones who need to attach themselves to something to feel better about themselves and their personal lack of success. It’s not just country. All styles of music and art have them.

I dunno why, I don’t follow the Twitter, Staci, or Reddit as closely as I did hoping for their return, but I just feel like a new TT album is imminent. Probably wrong, but I sure hope I’m not.

I wish I could listen to it. Reminds me too much of my grandma. I only listen to it when I want to cry lol

I honestly don’t understand the hate some of these guys catch from the gatekeepers. If you (generally not you personally. This doesn’t seem to be your problem) …if you don’t like their music then that’s fine, but why do you have to attach a personal feeling to it and attack others that do. I think that says more about the gatekeepers than it does the people they’re trying to tear down.

But I digress.
Because for people with that personality type, their primary motivation is not enjoying the activity but trying to demonstrate how they are better. Most hobbies/interests have people like that in them. Sports, craft beer, music, people really into physical fitness, etc.

People like that hate Morgan Wallen, or any pop music act, don't necessarily dislike the act because they don't like the music itself. I mean, they might not particularly like the music, but that isn't causes the big negative reaction. The real reason the Morgan Wallens of the world get hate from gatekeepers is because gatekeepers are smug and think they're better than the big masses of people who really like his music. It's an "I'm better than those people" thing, not a "I dislike the music" thing. It's why your hipster friend stopped being a fan of a band he really liked when they became popular.

If they simply didn't like Morgan Wallen's music, they just wouldn't listen to it and go about their day, but it's about more than that.

Some of us just think he sucks, as an artist and as a human. And I say that as someone who fully understands I’m not better than 95% of all of humanity.

That dude had plenty of hate before his controversies as well.

Almost went to see Mitchel Tenpenny at the signal tonight in Chattanooga. The Red woman isn’t feeling well so we skipped it.
Is he popular enough to be hated yet?

49 was bad ass, had to scramble to get everyone tickets but scored the last one on the way over. Happy to see them in a small room for probably the last time.

Colby Acuff has a Western feel that we don't get much here, made me want to list the house and get back to altitude.

Doesn't apply to anyone here, but as some of you know I'm a pretty non confrontational dude. But I had to remind a kid in front of us that his attempt at putting 2 full sets on snapchap was ****ing up the show for anyone behind him.

Take a few pics, maybe a 30 second clip, and put your **** away. And if it's a GA show get there at doors if you want to be close to the rail.

On this day in 1971 Sammi Smith was at #1 on the US Country chart with her country - pop crossover hit, "Help Me Make It Through the Night". Smith's version won a Grammy Award for Best Country Music Female performance. Written by Kris Kristofferson and released on his 1970 album Kristofferson, he later stated that he got the inspiration for the song from an magazine interview with Frank Sinatra. When asked what he believed in, Frank replied, "Booze, broads, or a bible...whatever helps me make it through the night."

Cody's dad is in the hospital so the show at The Shed is canceled for Saturday. Means I'll need to maybe do a school night trip next week for Vandoliers and that creepy dude
