Country music thread

I want to give credit to Luke Combs. I’m only five songs in so it can definitely get worse, but not bad. I probably won’t ever feel the need to listen to it again, but probably his best album yet from a songwriter stand point. (Yeah, I know, he didn’t write the majority of them.)

Having Felker and the boys join in with the Dropkick Murphys for a song written by Woody Guthrie is just brilliant.

Bonus points if you don’t have to Google why

The (heavily) socially liberal side of volfanbill is in full force lately, so I’ll pause from posting my at the moment current favorite lyrics, but it is amazing to go back and look at the nineties and realize how socially liberal a lot of the hits actually were.

Just a random thought I had when “Beth” by Kiss was playing in a movie I was watching.

Wonder why we haven’t seen a country cover of that? I can hear steel and acoustic guitar fitting perfectly behind it. Not really sure who I’d like to see cover it. Maybe BJ if they do a classic rock cover album, kinda like their classic country album.

“Well, the night goes on forever when you try to make it last. We were passing time together, just laying in the grass and we looked up at the heavens, and we saw the worlds collide. We were lying still and watching, they were flying through the sky, the stars in Oklahoma. Never seen a night so cool and clear. Shootin' stars in Oklahoma, burn so bright, then they disappear.”

Imagine getting Jamie Lin with TT on this. I’m not saying that thought alone is worth the price and hassle of a festival, but I mean it just might be…

I got an email today that suggested Floydfest ‘23 might be in jeopardy. They were supposed to move to a new location starting this year, but it seems like maybe it won’t be ready in time. Supposed to send another email in a week with more information

Something with the EPA making recommendations that the organizers blew off while working on the new venue; typically doesn't go over well.

And there was lots of bridges burned between the festival and the owner of the previous site so going back there is apparently not an option either.

TIFWIW, its "friend of a friend" information I'm inclined to believe

Definitely sounds believable the way the email read

We're gonna do Paul Thorn at the shed, may regret a July outdoor show there but he's a hoot.

I guess he would fall under "Amerikinda" but if someone plays Braun Brothers Reunion they're welcome in this thread.

So concert was great, and went to OMannons loft after and they had TouchTunes, so I played PBR Promenade.. and a dude across the bar says "WHO THE F IS PLAYING BJ BARHAM I NEED TO MEET MY NEW BEST FRIEND"
