Country music thread

Zach Bryan, Childers, Morgan Wade, and friends (to include Weezer!!!) making the Kentucky baseball regional for the CWS an absolute disaster. Way to go @Dallasbowlin. You have a hotel or do you live close enough?
I live close enough lol. I actually wasn't going at first, but I might actually get to go now. A friend may be giving me his tickets.

The festival is usually a shitshow so I steer away from giving them my money.

I didn’t plan on crying tonight, but Spotify introduced this to me tonight…

“Hey John Prine just one more thing…
You're the one who made us all wanna sing.
You made it look easy and sound so fun, we’ll sing a little sweeter now that you're all done.”

Wild to see they haven’t been to Norfolk since ‘08. Shirley they’ve hit Va Beach or Hampton since then @NochNoch ?
Nope, he even talked about it tonight but it’s something I talked to him about at a merch table in Richmond a decade ago. If you’re a touring band traveling up and down 95, coming to Hampton Roads is a 3 hour detour. On 95 from Richmond, 3 hours north or south gets you to a larger market than anywhere around here so why bother?

He did promise that they’d be back before another 15 years went by but then immediately joked that he had 14 more years to keep that promise.

Wild. I mean I get it. But the Norva is a great place. Just from a historical perspective. I’d go out of my way as an artist to play it. I get his argument, but you can still play in Raleigh, hit up Hampton Roads, Richmond, and then DC before hitting the northeast.

So the one thing I absolutely loved was, even at a way more relaxed and (old people, sit down show) eventually BJ still caused a group to walk up to the stage and demand some intense rock songs.

Norva is definitely great but I grew up spoiled by the fact that the Jewish Mother was an institution in Virginia Beach that would bring big, but not huge, acts right to my doorstep based on reputation alone. Once that died and went away things have been few and far between.

Yea. Seems like elevation or whatever it’s called just never got off the ground

Wild thing is that it was started by the guy who originally built the Norva and dropped a TON of money into the acoustics/sound system there but it still can’t replicate what JM used to be from an appeal standpoint

The first single from Hold My Beer 3 is fun, it's basically 3 minutes of name dropping but those guys have the resume to so it without any eye rolling on my part.

Yea it was three minutes of name dropping, but it was name dropping their peers and contemporaries, outside of Willie and arguably Miranda. They weren’t name dropping Sr, Jr, Merle, Waylon, Jones, etc…
