Was listening to a Frank Turner (definitely not country but just go with me here) song I hadn’t heard in a while and it made me think of this song. Perfect pairing:

“If I was of the greatest generation I'd be pissed. Surveying the world that I built slipping back into this. I'd be screaming at my grandkids: "We already did this".

Be suspicious of simple answers. That ****'s for fascists and maybe teenagers. You can't fix the world if all you have is a hammer”

He’s one of my absolute favorites. He’s an Englishman who came out of that punk scene but is also obsessed with American folk music. He name drops Graham Parsons and refers to “Jerry Lee and Johnny and all the greats” in one of my favorite songs of his. The music may not be everyone’s cup of tea but his lyrics are amazing.

He’s actually got a song called “Long Live the Queen” that I mentally categorize as a punk, spiritual cousin of Isbell’s “Elephant”.

Yeah, that album was really good. I wouldn’t necessarily say anything he’s put out since has been “awful”, but it’s also nothing great. This new album has a couple of good songs. “Tails I lose” is another one that’s actually really good.

At the end of the day, we get to listen to music with fiddle players like Brady Black, Kyle Nix, and Amanda Shires. We get to listen to music with steel guitar players like Zachary Moulton, Hank Early, and the pride of Cookeville, Neil Jones.

Crappy pics but cool show. Patterson got a little preachy but that's more or less to be expected. Lydia Loveless wore a coonskin cap which won over some points.

The sound was a bit off which is way out of character for the Orange Peel.

And an RV rental haha. I have called the hotels within any manageable distance before and gotten laughed at 😆. Think they just let people re-up annually for the reunion, which is admirable while also sucking for me.
