I thought Martin was in the same boat. Martin and Butch are actually kinda similar pre-UT, except that Butch had more experience. Winning records, conference championship, conference COY, etc. Cuonzo has obviously underachieved this year, but to say that a 6-4 team is doomed to miss the tournament is laughable. I really don't know what will happen, nor can I even speculate. I obviously like Martin, so I hope he can cut it here, but my faith is at an all-time low. I'm just not going to be calling for head at this point.

I'm not intending to give you grief, just expressing a difference if opinion. I though you brought Butch's record and commercial into the discussion? :dunno:

I pretty much agree with your points on Cuonzo, but you have to admit, with every game an AA tourney bid seems less likely. I think this team could still turn it around but coming off of that NC State loss at home it's hard to find many reasons for optimism at this point. Don't you agree?

Yeah, but it wasn't an attempt to slam the football program, as you seemingly assumed.

You're absolutely right. I can usually find some shimmer of hope through a loss, but I can't think of squat after the NCSU game. Just hoping we can turn on the afterburners and finish top-3 in the SEC. That is a realistic possibility, and I hope that an 'AA bid comes with it.

Couldn't tell you. Minnesota got in last year with an 8-8 conference record, so I don't put as much stock into the quantitative aspect. I like to keep up with bracketology, but I'm not a great person to ask specific questions to.

Martin should be fired, 3 year drought from the NCAA tournament after following bruce pearl is unacceptable. 5-7 record after following Dooley not that bad of a job, that wont even be close to acceptable in year 3 but for now it works. Martin has failed here and like dooley had nothing on his resume to even ddeserve a sniff at this job!

Given the circumstances, missing the tournament was a lot more likely than making it since Bruce was fired for unethical conduct instead of snatched up by a better program. Need I remind you we were picked to finish 11th. Dooley had a losing record in a crappy conference, while Martin literally took his team from worst to first in the conference and earned COY. Martin doesn't have any losing seasons at UT.

SEC is crappy in football? Are you serious? And in college basketball winning seasons dont mean a DAMN thing when you dont make the NCAA tournament! The SEC is horrible in BBall it brings up the rear out of all the BCS conferences I would even go as far to rank some mid majors ahead of the SEC so what does that say about Martins ability.

Crappy conference in football? Lmao. The SEC has only won the last seven national championships in a row and Auburn will make it eight. lmao The SEC is eighth in the power conferences in basketball. Martin did not literally take us from worst to first, we were picked 11th and finished in a three way tie for second with a 10-6 sec record and all we accomplished was a NIT bid, a victory over that basketball powerhouse Savannah State and an embarrassing loss at home to Middle Tennessee State.

No, Martin has been worse. At least Dooley made a bowl game. That's equivalent to making the Dance. dooley's worse loss was to a sorry UK team that had a WR as QB. Martin's was that 1 and 9 AP team at TBA. Martin's also had a crap ton more talent (comparatively speaking) than Dools.
