CP - Olympics conspiracy theory

Tomorrow, Tuesday @ 3:30pm est on NBAHD, we can watch and see if CP is worth arguing about as the best in the game. She and her LA Sparks teammates will play Minnesota and Maya Moore, the undefeated and returning WNBA champs. This is channel 216 on my Direct TV programming. Yours may differ.

my prediction?

Lynx 84 Sparks 82

well it just reinforces my opinion of Geno

which has never been high at all,if the legend CPS doesn't like him,I have to agree with her :)

At least you are honest enough to say you believe Parker because she is a LV and dislike Geno because he coaches UConn.

It does not matter why CP wasn't chosen, it was a bad exclusion and an undeserved slap in the face of one of the best women basketball players on the planet. When I say one of the best, I am talking the top five. It does not matter where the best plays or played, you never, ever leave the best at home when you take on the world. It is an unexcusable blunder. It would be similar to cutting Labron, or Steph Curry from the men's Olympic team. Simply put, there is not a plausible reason for this snub.

Sadly this topic may never be resolved but that's in large part due to how shocking it is. Parker should be on the team. Period. No excuses. She is very versatile but is a natural 4. It appears the team has Charles as 4 along with Stewart and Delle Done. All 3 are very deserving players, but that doesn't mean Parker shouldn't have made it. Parker should have been picked over McCaughtrey or Fowles, both of which are very good players. Additionally, I believe the team should have put a young guard in the other spot such as Diggins, Sims, Mcbride, Vandersloot, or Jefferson.

Parker should have been picked over just about every player on the team other than Taurasi and Moore. Those three players should have been the core of the team.

So far this season, Augustus and Griner have done little to justify their selection. At SG, Kayla McBride and Jewell Loyd have been much better players. Nneke Ogwumike should have been picked over Griner (assuming that Fowles, Charles, Parker and Stewart were all on the team).

Uh, there is nothing about Parker's situation that requires "belief."

The facts are that she was left of the Olympic team. The facts are that she is widely regarded as being one of the best, if not the best, women b-ball players ever. The facts are that she is playing the best ball of her career and leading her team to a stellar season.

The facts are that just about every knowledgeable observer of the sport is having a "WTF?" reaction to her omission.

The facts are that no credible explanation for this omission has been giving and that the coach of the US would be expected to have input into the team selection.

In terms of "honesty", how about you admitting that you're trolling this board repeatedly to deny the obvious because you are Geno-acolyte? Oh, and you have my sympathies.

While the Sparks have won everything so far, she is having one of the worst statistical years of her career at 16.5ppg, 7.4rpg, and shooting on 45.1% from the field. Still solid numbers and the team is winning, so meh...

While we're throwing conspiracy theories about, I don't think the "one person" that Tina Thompson referred to was Geno, but actually another player. Parker use to play with Taurasi on UMMC in Russia. This last season, Parker was replaced by Griner on UMMC. I think there may have been a falling out between Taurasi and Parker, and... Taurasi got her dropped by UMMC and keep off the Olympic team!! Hows that for some conspiracy!

Also wanted to add, if it was just a "she went to Tennessee thing" why is Catchings on this years team?

And a Phoenix team with 2 Olympians is currently not a playoff team. Your point?

Her numbers are down because LA has the luxury of not playing her as many minutes. Or would you prefer she be in Stewart's position, where she basically has to play end-to-end to get the kind of numbers she has.

If you put Candace's numbers against a "per 40 minute" scale, she's easily near the top in efficiency.

I agree with everything you said up to your last comment about me. It is certainly puzzling why she isn't on the team. Where differ is that you, like many LV fans, immediately assume that the UConn coach is the reason while I remain puzzled. I have posted this earlier but why is everyone so certain that he has any animosity towards Parker? Is it because she played for Tenn? If that's why then what is Catchings doing on the team? If Geno was to hold a grudge against anyone it would be EDD, who screwed up Geno's roster when she walked away days after enrolling at Storrs.

Before I even entertain the idea that Geno is behind this I need some evidence that he has any animosity towards her. I posted that question several days ago and still haven't seen any.

I have a great deal of admiration for the UConn coach for his coaching. But I know nothing about him as a person and really don't care. I haven't worshiped an athlete since Mickey Mantle retired. I think it's silly to assume that just because someone is great athlete or coach they deserve to be raised to the level of sainthood. If I had children I wouldn't allow them to make media stars into role models. And as far as why I post here I read this forum daily because it's an active board. Other than here and the BY and to a lesser degree the Notre Dame board, there is little to read about wcbb. I rarely post and would prefer not posting about UConn here. For all the comments that UConn fans come here to troll I would say take a look at the threads about UConn. Most every UConn thread I have posted on has been started by an LV fan and I jumped in when I thought there were things being stated that were factually wrong or completely over the top. On the other hand there are some very insightful posters here and I enjoy reading their thoughts. I also like the fact that unlike the UConn board, criticism is allowed to much greater degree. The BY has become a really politically correct vanilla board where anything negative, either about UConn or even other teams is discouraged. Several longtime posters were banned for negative posts about opponents. But it is an excellent source of information about the Huskies and for the most part I just read there.

This past season I refrained from getting involved in the threads about the LV's inconsistent play but I'd say that I have a better opinion of Warlick's coaching than many of the LV fans. I think the LV's have a real shot at the FF this year if key players stay healthy. I didn't think that last year. While they play very inconsistently during the season Warlick seems to rally the troops when the NCAA's start.

Lynx win, Montgomery sinks 3 point winning shot.

And I'm sure that you were so excited to post this that you rushed all the way here. Did you stop at the Boneyard first, or were your heart palpitations so bad that you wanted to make sure that you shared the good news here first?

4 National Championships in a row, yet you still have an inferiority complex to Tennessee. So, so sad

Actually I thought it was a great game, LA has the best defense I've seen in a long time. Pretty basketball, great for the WNBA and I expect LA to win in the rematch. Great team chemistry.

It was a great game. Nice to see both of them in a position to win with 30 seconds left in the game.

Still doesn't change the fact that you rushed over here to report. A zebra doesn't change it's stripes (or in your case, your scarf).

giving up offensive boards will get you beat, LA. And missed ft's

Parker needed to forget the three and play in the paint more, imho.

Minn. was better than I thought they could be with MM on the bench.

The combination of Brunson, Fowles and Howard was too tough for Parker to handle inside. She needed to hit a few jumpers to open up her options in the paint.

Even though MM had a bad game, Minny is deep: Perkins, Howard, Montgomery, and McCarville are quality options that LA just doesn't have. Lavender was the only LA bench player who was productive.

I saw the interview with smooth and silk, she was not settled on becoming a backup player if its offered but we all know who is behind this.

Why would we want to curse our favorite LV with a spot on the Olympic team? Any of them who survive the already-building chaos down in Brazil will be riddled with Zikavirus when they return. I'd rather she continue a long and productive career. Let all the UConn grads be the plague dogs when they come back.
