Shortly after he returned home from his official trip to Illinois 6-foot-5, 266-pound Chicago Morgan Park defensive lineman Craig Drummond broke the news to Rivals BadgerBlitz.com's Paul Day that the Illini and Wisconsin were the only schools left under consideration on his list.

Craig Drummond"Illinois and Wisconsin are just the two schools I like the best," Drummond said. "I'm still planning to commit on my birthday on November 2nd. I'm going to wait until I take my official visit this weekend to Wisconsin to see which school I like the best. I'm pretty sure I'll be announcing here in Chicago on one of the TV stations."

The Wisconsin visit didn't nearly live up to Drummond's expectations...in spite of the Badgers prevailing in their contest w/ Illinois. Needless to say Illinois is still his leader, but still maintains he'll choose "between" Illinois and Wisconsin come November 2nd.

DE Craig Drummond (Chicago/Morgan Park) hasn't recovered well enough from a broken foot to get on the field as senior, so he drops from No. 67 to No. 110.

Drummond is definitely clear on one important issue.
"I've opened up my recruiting with Illinois and I'm looking again at my options. Some things have gone on with Illinois that I just don't feel like talking about to be honest. I'm going to make my official visit this coming weekend with Ole Miss and I'll see how things go from there."
So do the Fighting Illini still have a shot with Craig Drummond? "I'm just not sure right now to be honest. I want to just head out, make another official visit and see how things feel after that visit. I haven't set any other official visits just yet with any other schools. The 30th (January 30th) I guess is a possibility but I haven't even looked that far just yet."

Intrigued me when he said he'd rather not talk about it...I remember watching his film on ESPN and really wanting him.

Drummond soured Zook because he didnt meet admission requirements at Illinois. Ole miss is his leader and his dad is pushing for them.

Drummond: I'm still committed to Illinois

By Bob Sakamoto |Tribune staff reporter
2:57 PM CST, January 19, 2009

Morgan Park All-American defensive end Craig Drummond is going to expand his college options.

The 6-foot-5-inch, 260-pound senior said he is leaving Friday on an official visit to Mississippi despite making an oral commitment to Illinois in November.

"I'm still committed to Illinois," Drummond said Monday after reiterating to Illini coach Ron Zook that he still is planning to play in Champaign. "I just want to check out another school. So far, I've made visits to Illinois and Wisconsin."

Drummond said he became enamored with the Rebels program after talking to a number of Mississippi recruits during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Jan. 3 in San Antonio.

"It was cool talking to those guys and finding out why they are going to Mississippi," Drummond said. "What they said made a big impression on me.

"I didn't talk to any of the coaches from Mississippi."
t's not unusual for recruits who commit early to make visits to other schools. College prospects will sign national letters of intent on Feb. 4.

Another prize Illini recruit, All-State receiver Terry Hawthorne of East St. Louis, made a visit to Oklahoma over the weekend. Hawthorne committed to the Illini during the football season.

Drummond is considering waivering because he wants to enroll early at a school and he probably has no chance of meeting requirements at Illinois. He explains he might be looking at a Tennessee visit on the 30th..
