Crain & Co. - Can Joe serve crow?

It’s become obvious by now that in many situations, Joe doesn’t have a good QB IQ.
But in his defense, in spite of being a 5th year senior, he only has the collective experience of a late year freshman. I think he can still improve quite a bit, and barring injury, he will not be replaced by Nico. I believe if we had to throw a backup QB to the wolves in a tenuous situation, we should play Gaston Moore. Ok, start yelling at me…
You must have played the position, please enlighten Us based on Your experience as a starting QB at a Power 5 school.

He is no Hooker, but our receivers are not helping him at all, not to mention we are behind the sticks all the time due to stupid penalties like jumping offsides.
Absolutely!
HUGE drops and untimely stupid penalties are not helping Joe one bit……..

I have always been a supporter until this past game but it will take a passing game to beat AL and I am not confident he can get that done. But I would love to be eating crow for dinner Sat. night.
Joe had a couple of goofs but he was 2 dropped passes from Keyton away form 63% completions and around 200 passing yards which would have been a balanced attack. Joe can only do so much.

I just wish they would talk about how awesome the run game and defense is more instead of focusing so much on Joe.
Agreed.

Even the outsiders are spoiled by CJH’s high flying passing attack. Because it’s not been explosive that is the only thing folks can focus on. Never mind we have one of the best rushing attacks in the country and just scorched the leading run defense by a county mile.

I’m hoping Milton has a second half to this season the same way Crompton came on in the second half of 2009. He was also a Senior. I think the ability is there, we are just all waiting for him to put it all together. I hope it’s this weekend.
That would be nice.

Even when he runs with more aggression, he still lets up right before contact. He doesn’t run through people like KJ, Newton, Dobbs, Tebow. The bottom line is he’s soft. I don’t hate him.
Disagree. He has 2 styles from my view. Run out and run over. The one right before the pick against A&M he was standing over the defender after he trucked him.

Can someone please make a thread about the terrible play of the Wr's. No Joe hasn't played well but the Wr's have been terrible. I don't see one thread on that

We are not favored for some reason. It’s probably only home-field advantage.
I'm guessing it's a combination of our offense seriously struggling in hostile road environments and their defense being elite. From what I've heard (take this with a grain of salt) home advantage for betting lines is typically worth 3 points. So if we're a 9 point dog on the road, we'd be roughly a 6 point dog in a neutral site.

I think Joe end up being a better pro then a college QB...I have been a supporter but his lack of "dawg" is driving me crazy....
That too.

But more than anything- he's just not a savvy QB. He has zero feeling for the game, and rarely hits his checkdown in groove.

At least he's not JG and his constant cloud of endless, anger and despair

He is the primary reason for them playing subpar.

He throws off the whole rhythm in an offense HEAVILY dependent on rhythm.

And yes there have been plenty of "WR sucks " threads the past 4 weeks.

Even before Bru got hurt.

It all points back to Joe.

That's not true man. The Wr's are dropping balls and running bad routes man. They aren't creating any separation and when they do and Joe hits them in the hands they drop the ball.

Wasn’t the hit by Joe on A&M’s star defensive back what knocked said back out of the game? Seems like when Joe wants to hit, he can hit pretty hard. He trucked at least two D-backs in the A&M game - yes, after he ran out of bounds on 4th and 2. That’s where the head scratching starts. He would have easily gotten the 2 yards if he just ran over the D-backs on that play, but he stepped out? No clue…. GBO
He trucked their all american LB #45 hes the one that didnt return

Joe is not responsible for "any" wr dropping passes. Its his job to throw it. Not catch it. They should be doing their part. Keyton is ass

Joe gotta punched in the mouth while delivering a perfect strike to Keyton who dropped it. We still got the personal foul and 15 yards but that’s the play in my mind that kinda flipped the switch for Joe in his running attack.

He threw an awful inexcusable high school level pick in the endzone but if you looked at his body langauage, he owned it and told all of his guys he was gonna make it up to them. They ended up moving the ball fairly well after that. I think he has an underdog mentality and plays better when doubted.

Hope he learned from the swamp. Bama is gonna load the box like Florida so he’s either gonna have to throw with pinpoint accuracy, find a way to improvise and make some escape plays, or suffer the same swamp fate.
I think a talking to at half is what flipped the switch. Someone told him how stupid that 3rd down pull up was and that his team needed him to run with a purpose

This is true. Something is off though. Outside of maybe SW, the WRs and JM look like they haven’t practiced together.

I know they are all capable of much better, and I’m hoping they flip that switch in T-town. Coming out of there with a W would give this team so much momentum.

Our offensive line is not the same five guys who faced Florida.
