Crime and the United States

Come up with all the anecdotes you want, of the top ten states in murder rates, 8 of them are RED and Tennessee is one of them.

Oh and don't say it's because of a large city in a state, they also ran the data taking out the largest city, still top ten murder rates.

Don't let the truth get in the way of your story.
I'd be interested for this link as well..when I look at say Louisiana which is the top state for homicide at 12 per 100k. The I look at New Orleans alone. At 70 per 100k the math doesn't add up, when you take out cities

There are multiple stories on this. Just Google "red states have higher murder rates." This is a study referenced in The Hill:

The Red State Murder Problem – Third Way

It's talking murder "rate per capita" which is the fair comparison, (obviously Florida would have more total murders than say Mississippi, but it is your number of murders per 1000 people allows a direct comparison). If you take our New Orleans you take out its population numbers and its number of murders and calculate the rate with just the non-New Orleans populace. They still make top 10. Guess it's those Cajuns shooting each other out in the swamps.

I read thru the article 2x they didn't give numbers for those red states minus the cities,. Just kinda flew by and mentioned it generally. I'll definitely research it more as it very interesting

So this is where I challenge those numbers

Louisiana pop. 2021. 4624000
NOLA POP. 376.971
baton rouge. 2221489

Remaining pop minus 2 democrat run cities
4024844

Louisiana murder total. 447
NOLA 218
BR. 149

Total homicide with out NOLA and BR. 80

Meaning for the remaining 4 mil pop only 80 homicide committed roughy 2 per 100k
As opposed to 61 per 100k in those w cities

Leads me to believe your article is F0S

Well if you will simply google the topic you will find multiple stories citing multiple studies all of which combine the same point. For instance, here's an article out of Politico.

Gun Violence Is Actually Worse in Red States. It’s Not Even Close.

I know, this destroys your preferred narrative so you are going to reject it and take solace in the fact Fox News will never bring this up. You'll crunch numbers in nonsensical ways, but it won't change the conclusions of multiple studies.

Just one question, for years the gun lobby has pushed the narrative that guns make you safer. These studies would indicate that is not true. In fact, the region with the highest number of murders also has the highest rates of firearm ownership.

BTW, I am a sport shooter and own multiple firearms, so don't try saying I hate guns. But I would be glad to give up my AR-15 tomorrow if they were outlawed.

Instead of trying to skew gun crime stats to prove Red States are worse, you should look at the demographics of who commits gun crimes.

That article against doesn't give the numbers. But does elude the urban areas have 15 to 35 % more gun deaths so again it doesn't ring true in all cases when you take out democratic run cities....dispute my 2021 number presented above and sho me where I'm wrong? Same hold true in TN when you take out Memphis and Nashville...dispute the numbers not bias opinion articles

I don't see data with the largest city or cities sorted. Maybe I overlooked it. Where did you see that?
A county breakdown by murder rate and 2020 election share would be great.
edit - it's not by rate and it's Fox News so not necessarily fair and balanced but:
Murders are becoming even more concentrated in a handful of urban counties, report shows

Love it when I get 5-6 replies to a single post.

Look everyone, I didn't do the studies but there are multiple ones that confirm the issue. For the third time, quit trying to pick at one string on one study. Go to Google and you will find multiple stories on multiple research projects. Just posted another one from Politico. Argue with them.

The numbers are what the states report to the feds. In fact, it is believed by some researchers that the southern states underreport the gun murders. Surely DeSanctimonius wouldn't underreport anything.

But you guys can argue all you want.

Yes but you made a claim that the numbers were the same when you took out the Democratic race j cities....you have no data to support that...I broke down Louisiana and proved your were FOS...so unless you have applicable data to point to, your proof still doesn't disprove that Democratic run cites are the issue

That's not even a good deflection. In post 271 you cited detailed statistics. Are those real or from your imagination?

Florida man, 38, is accused of Kidnapping DoorDash driver in her 20s and Raping her - then firing shots at victim's family members after they tracked her phone and showed up to rescue her

A female DoorDash driver was kidnapped and raped last week by a man who started shooting her family members when they tried to rescue her, Florida police have said.

Joseph Killins, 38, was arrested on Saturday in connection with the rape and kidnapping on April 18 at an apartment complex in Tampa.

Authorities have said Killins held the DoorDash driver in her 20s at gunpoint as he demanded cash, and when she did not have the money, he forced her into a car and made her drive to an apartment at the Belara Lake Apartment complex where he raped her.

Taylor Swift's fans rally around young man struck and killed after leaving singer's Houston concert - hordes flock to GoFundMe to leave $13 donations and lyrics to Swift's songs

Taylor Swift's fans are rallying around the family of Jacob Lewis who was tragically struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver as Lewis was leaving the singer's show Friday night in Houston.

Lewis, 20, was hit while attempting to push his vehicle on the side of the road after he and his sister experienced car troubles on the way home from The Eras Tour.

Houston Police said Alan Bryant, 34, hit the pair and fled the scene only to be followed by a Good Samaritan tow truck driver who watched the collision occur.

What a pathetic attempt to deflect. You got nada. Be a man and admit it.

And you're the kind who argues Trump won despite the evidence. Same thing here, you're too stupid or too doctrinaire to waste time on.

You still haven't provided any numbers only opinion articles. I have you numbers and you ignore them which shows me your nothing but another sad Dem who can't articulate they own argument.

I’ve never once made that claim. Hardly ever even mention Trump - you won’t find me in those threads.

Another swing and a miss.

Do you remember where you saw that data showing red states have high murder rates even with their largest cities' numbers excluded?
