Criticism is fine, but support your Vols

I want to know how someone has the time to post 30k times in a little over a year? That's a lot of VN'ing going on. I guess Cuonzo has had a lot to defend the last few years. Hence why the post count is so high and the product on the court hasn't improved.
#lesspostingmorecoaching

That is alot of posts, but your math is a little off.

So if Austin Price quit working for VQ, you'd have a major issue if he still talked a couple times to a couple of guys he conversed with while working for VQ?

I see what you're saying, but just don't agree.

FWIW - you probably should not be posting texts from high school athletes - good, bad or indifferent. That's just not wise - especially commits.....

I have a concern about the direction of the program, in general. I believe we are stuck in or headed to being a mediocre program, doomed to the mid pack of the SEC and underachieving given our resources, fan base and past success.

I am not calling for Cuonzo to be fired everytime we lose a game. I also believe it is down right stupid to think that Bruce is or even would come back as coach. I also believe you are correct on the feelings of recruits when fans react negatively. I hate it when fans boo our coaches and especially the players.

My hope is that the team can get things turned around this season. Firing Cuonzo now after just 3 years would send a bad message to prospective coaches as well as players and recruits.

My concern is the direction of the program and not the game to game losses. If Cuonzo is fired, the fans had better expect another couple of lean years until a new coach gets his players in place to make a good run. If Hart bites the bullet and makes a change, that will be the result. It will also make it tougher to make a great hire. But, the bottom line is that Bruce is not coming back. I would like to see it, but it is not going to happen.

I do agree the players deserve support no matter what (well unless they are jackasses I guess). But it's a fine line.

I'm sure some of the recruits were privately saying the same thing about Dooley, but that wasn't any reason not to voice displeasure.

I understand getting upset about the Vols but how many really expected this team to beat Florida? I was really proud of the fight we gave. We never give up and people should appreciate that. The Vandy loss sucks but it's a tough place to win a ball game at.

Coach Martin may indeed be a good coach. However, head basketball coach at a university involves a lot more than just connecting on a personal level with oyur players, or exercising some above average coaching skills on the court (not that Martin has...). It involves the stewardship of a multi-million dollar revenue generating athletic program. That means promoting, recruiting, training, in-game coaching, generating fan interest (attendance, souvenir sales etc), connecting with the fans (through media, tours, speaking events) and so forth. A lot of coaches in a lot of sports have fallen victim to being successful in one or two areas but failing in the others. Cutcliffe at Ole Miss is an example.

Dave Hart is ultimately responsible for making sure the basketball coach is doing what we are paying him millions to do. And he certainly won't make a million-dollar decision based on the opinion of 3 recruits, or a poster like me on a message board.

Rent, don't buy, Zo. Of course he could do what is needed and produce results to justify the position and salary, but I would think if that was going to happen it would've already. If he did, he'd have the support of the Big Orange Nation. It's not personal between the fans and Zo, it's personal between the fans and the university we love.

This post is gonna fall on deaf ears, or blind eyes, but I feel like posting it and really don't care the backlash I'll undoubtedly get from some. As some of you know, I know a couple of the guys in the 2014 class, and we keep in touch...this was part of a text I just received.

All 3 of those quotes are from different members of the 2014 class. I just thought I would remind people that recruits and commits do read these boards, and do pay attention. They're well aware of the struggles, but they're determined to come in and compete. All 4 members of this class are the type to fight you for 40 minutes, and who hate to lose more than anything.

Like I said, I know some of you will bash and feel free to do so, but I just figured I would let some of you know how the current commits feel.

lol idiot

You think wayyyyy too highly of yourself.

1. I'm a former athlete, just don't feel the need to tell everyone about my great HS days like you. Must be a sad life if you have to constantly revert back to the trophys you won in high school lol.

2. Nobody is trying to be involved in anyone's life, but funny coming from the guy who got involved with the Berry's and swore they were going to greyshirt or some other moronic idea.

You say that you don't talk about your "great" HS days (where you just did) and then criticize Sparty for talking about his HS days. Most people call that a hypocrite.

You can't see the forest for the trees. You aren't part of the "media" anymore even if you tried to be basically an overzealous fan that fired up a blog/website. Anyone can do that. And yes, it's creepy to continue to do it. Austin Price covers the Vols. He gets paid to do it even if he is a homer. A little bit of a difference there.

1. You are a liar. You didn't play anything. That's why you are sniffing teenagers jocks and texting them. Because they are what you never were. Like I said. I've seen guys like you going back to early 80's.
2. I never tried to contact the Berry's. Never would.

Keep digging. You look like a damn fool. Again. Its like a daily occurence.

You gotta admit, it's kind of comical though watching it.

So BTO...just to make sure I follow what you're sayin here...you want us to sing CCM's praises, regardless of the reality of the situation, just because a recruit/signee might see the comments??

A couple of thoughts:
1) College Bball is big business and these coaches are paid $hitloads of $ to be big boys and take the criticism. Geeze...there are UK fans wanting Calipari fired because he can't get his 5 star freshmen to play together and they're tired of the 'one & done' business. Point is...this comes with the territory when dealing with a passionate fan base.
2) Many others on here have said it already...but if these recruits don't understand that they're coach is going to be criticized, regardless of where they go, then they need to put their big boy panties on and realize it happens everywhere.

That being said...if you're a recruit and you're reading this...we really want you here and can't wait to see you playing for the university. Please do me one favor...if you end up here and you're ever in a late game situation and the team is huddled up...please tell CCM it's ok to use his timeouts to set up a play and that he needs to work the refs more.

Thanks!!

Sorry guys, it's my fault. Me and my friends have been playing this long running joke on BTO. I got his cell phone number, and thought it would be funny if I pretended I was Larry, and my buddies were Phil and Jordan. We've been texting every couple days for the last month. I never thought it would make it to the volnation message board. I formally apologize to BTO that you got forum catfished.

... and this is only how the current commits feel. What about those who might be considering us. When they start weighing it out, they will likely look another direction. I have never understood coach bashing during a season. It is not productive at all. It can only serve to tear down any chance for success. Our own fans seem to be cutting our teams throat in the eyes of any potential recruit. :banghead2:

so if we all supported CCM we'd have a #5 recruiting class.

interesting theory. would love some proof of this.

apparently cuonzo's lack of coaching has no bearing.

this is really a revelation. fans recruit players, not coaches
