Crompton will start

As long as the balls are not dropped we should be OK. The receivers can't start off like they did last week.

And yes I had to make some open ended comment primed for those who's minds are in the gutter.

I think this is the best choice. We need to save Ainge at for later. I'd be comfortable with Crompton starting against Ketnucky and Vandy, but hopefully Erik will be back by then at 100%. We dont need to risk him. We need to save him for the bowl game.

I agree, and I feel like Crompton will set up a record.

Ark has only allowed 2 deep balls all year (USC Jarrett and Smith, USC, Auburn). We are suspect against the pass, just not the home-run balls like you had last week against LSU.

Your main cog in defending the deep ball is out though, so it changes that a lot.

With Erik Ainge out at QB, a totally inept running game, and a total inability to shut down the run defensively, we're staring loss #3 square in the face this weekend against Arkansas.

Crompton will be fine. Arkansas's defense isn't anything above average.

The running game is worrisome, but remember, the Hogs won't be able to exploit our D when we put 8 in the box.

Since when does EA's absence spell an automatic loss? Crompton appeared to have it together against LSU, and, to paraphrase: Arky is no LSU.

Crompton got lucky on two deep passes. Other than that, he did very little. One of those two deep passes was thrown directly into double coverage. In fact, Crompton threw a lot of passes into double coverage all afternoon.

You know so little about Football that I'm surprised you even know how to turn the TV to a channel that has a football game on.

Your agenda overrides your sense of realism.

Yeah, Crompton threw into coverage a few times, but you can do a lot worse than hanging it up in the air in the direction of your best receiver and putting it where only he can catch it.

I heard similar comments last season when I accurately predicted that we'd lose to Alabama and South Carolina, get blown out by Notre Dame, and then go on to lose to Vanderbilt. How did those predictions work out?

Funny, I can't find those.

If you make enough negative predictions. Some of them will come true.

Yeah right Kreskin.

You're a football GOD.

*snicker*

Vol423= The Johnny Majors of Internet Prognostications. (He views his achievements as three times higher than they are in reality and is so bitter about those around him that he can't understand why everyone else laughs at him when he thinks he's winning the big game.)

You're going to have to post here more than after big losses to get anyone to care about what your opinions are.

Want a prediction......Tennessee wins big and we don't see Vol423 until next season, or the first big Basketball loss.

Check the Voltalk board. I got banned a couple days after making that prediction, and one of the idiot moderators over there added my quote to his signature. When those predictions came true he quietly removed it from his signature without a word. I don't know if anyone else on this board posts or visits that board, but I know that NCGatorbait used to post there from time to time.

OrangeSquare, I'm sorry to disappoint you with the infrequency of my posts, but unlike you, some of us enjoy a full life outside of an internet message board. You should try it sometime. To suggest that I only post here after losses shows a serious level of ignorance.

I'm reminded of two favorite sayings by an old ball coach...

..if, Ifs and Buts were Candy and Nuts, Oh what a Christmas it would be...

And another....key your eye on the donut and not the hole....

The Vols have been looking too long at the donut, and can't find the holes.

Cromption will do fine....settling in now, and if we can run for 100 yds, we have this thing won. LSU took all the pressure off the Vols...10-2 will happen this year.

man, I was at the game and I dont see how you can not be anything but impressed with JC.the 1st td was a perfect throw. the 2nd was a little iffy, but like someone already said, throwing in the direction of #3 is not a bad idea; especially when you consider the vols could not drive the ball on their D. overall, hard to find much fault with JC and I am totally confident with him back there.
