If we get a QB ready, he will have some targets this year... loaded I say.

The CROOMSTER is really going to surprise alot of people before he leaves the hill!

He's still young and learning how to use his muscle and big body the right ways but when he learns it all then he'll be mighty hard for 1 man to defend against.

He'll get his degree and the NFL will be glad to have him.

I hope so. But they had him working with the second team yesterday. I'm not sure he is going to start with North, Malone, and Pearson out there. He'll see some time. But those 3 seem to have come in here practicing like starters. This is his second year in the system. If it doesn't click for him this year. He might fade down the depth chart.

Second team is not a bad thing. You do play around 50% of snaps still. I'm sure he'll be fine.

Yep. And it would be a real shame not to use him as a blocker on some outside run plays. Not to mention shorter yardage/goal line where you need a big body to throw to

It'd be a total waste to never use him. He's got too many skills. He'd be a change of pace at Wr, and he's very physical for a WR. He'll be good.

He's from my county so I absolutely love watching him. Hope he makes some huge plays for us this year!

I predict that if croom stays at WR, his production will be modest. He's too big for the position. He's already been dropped to second team. He's a TE playing wideout--why, I'm not sure.

Croom is still in a major developing phase with his game. By all accounts he is starting to get it. He came on some at the end of the year and he's still young. RS Soph.

He was a pretty good blocker last yr and many people don't seem to remember that. He absolutely buried some guys in the run game. After Dallas left he was the best blocking WR we had which is important. He will make some plays this yr.

He's the perfect candidate to move to TE. Stubbornness is rarely a good thing.

He's not playing TE, Burgs.

Y'all can't accept it

You wanna move anyone who's 6'3 or taller to DE or TE. If he was really a better TE fit then that's where he would play. They see him everyday. He's not playing there. Move on.

This whole "second team" thing is silly. I look for North and Pearson to be A and 1A with a lot of additional production from Croom, Malone et al

He'd be the perfect starter there. He can block, catch, and out run linebackers while out sizing safeties. I hope he can get better with separation this year.

Second team thing is silly most of the time.

For now I have no reason not to be confident that Wolf and Helm will be able to hold their own at tight end. I'd rather Croom stay where he is so he doesn't have to learn a whole bunch on new techniques. I do see why people want him there.

But really that seems like its been a huge part of Tennessee's problem the past half decade. Constantly learning entirely new schemes/techniques and never building off of what is already in place. I'm really excited about the season for that reason.

He is not going to play TE. He's a big body WR with enough speed and talent to play on the outside and that's why he hasn't been moved. He's more than physical enough to play WR according to the TSR guys who have raved about his stepped up physicality so far this spring, but he's not physical enough to play TE. Plus, we have 2 young TE studs right now. Croom is more needed at WR which is where he'll stay and play a lot IMO.

With the speed Butch wants to play with and the amount for 3-4 wide sets, does it really matter if you are 1st or 2nd string? You are still gonna see the field quiet often in either roll.

And does the title really matter for Croom? Put him outside and the defense will treat him like a WR, put him inside and they will treat him like a TE. It doesn't matter what we call him.

Big difference in blocking a CB or safety, or blocking down on an OLB from the slot or WR position and lining up head to head with a DE and/or being asked to block him or block down on a DT like he would be asked to do at TE. What Helm and Wolf are doing at TE vs what Croom/Pearson/Malone are doing at WR is a world of difference.

I agree that it's not gonna matter much if he's 1st or 2nd string WR, he'll still be in the rotation and see a ton of snaps.
