why would we take 17-18 commitments, since we back count 2-3? Weird?

I think you need to add...

Ralph Williams LB
Noah Chesier TE
Byran Jones DT
Tyrone Cornelius LB
James Stone OL

At least one more DE.

We would have to move D. Jones to DE since we only have Miller, and possibly JacSmith if we he becomes solid, but he may end up at OLB.

By the way does anyone see this guy being like a leach, comparable to other guys and calling Commited guys to come play for us, or is he in the gentleman mold of a charlie-weis and not into calling other peoples recruits unless first contacted by that recruit.

We do not know if Dooley will go after all of the same players that were being recruited before last Tuesday, but if so there seemed to be a lot of interest from the following players:

RB-Rajaan Bennett
DE-Corey Lemonier
OL-Arie Kouandjio
Damien Robinson
Torrien Wilson
WR-Da' Rick Rogers
DB-Ahmad Dixon
ATH-Delvin Jones

Do any of you have any insight or information on these players intentions or plans?

From what I read D. Jones is still very high on us. A. Dixon has recommitted to Baylor (I think) and is also looking at USC.

I'm still thinking we get a running back. Darkwa wouldn't be the end of the world.

Guys..seriously...

Ambles is going to give us a serous look...and I think he really likes the school and just wants to get a good feeling about Dooley...

Green has family ties, Chaney and immediate playing drawing him here...

Cullen has Chaney and immediate playing time drawing him here...

Pair likes the school and honestly...what other major school is offering him...

C Smith has all but recommitted at this point...same for Jones

Taylor loves Thompson and Thompson is staying

Nelson probably loves the depth chart...

Lofton seems to like us...

Point is...I don't think this is too far fetched at all

All of this is your opinion. Someone else didn't like your opinions becasue you have no factual evidence (links, interviews, insider info) to back them up. Don't get upset if we call you a great Vol fan with a dream.....

According to Rivals, we have 17 committments still. I'm going out on a limb here and predict that we keep those 17 and we add the following players which will get us to 25:

Rajaan Bennett
Christian Jones
Chaz Green
Damien Robinson
John Cullen
Ahmad Dixon
Eddrick Loften
Delvin Jones

If my prediction comes true, then the class is saved and I feel we have a better coach to lead our team! Who would have ever thought this would have been possible last Tuesday!!! GBO!!!:victory:

Staying on subject of recruiting class rank, what does everyone think of the different recruiting class ranks... Rivals, Scout, avg. stars etc? Which does everyone think is the best ranking system?

Man, he's a close call IMO. I like the kid a lot,and runs hard and he has good vision of the field, but his speed is lacking in a big way.I most certainly think he's D1 material,I just don't know if he's SEC material?

Is this just a dream or is this a possibility? I definitely hope this is true but seems a bit lofty.

Looks good to me...but I would take Jones off for sure...the only reason he looked here was because he really iked the idea of playing for MK...and it would have been a long shot even with MK still here...

I also think we're out of it for good with A Dixon...but who knows with him..

Because we could then back count 9 - 10 EE's next year, if I understand the rules correctly. And recruit a total of 25 + (9 or 10) = 34 or 35 in 2011.

If we can get some more key recruits this year, great. But there's no point in using the slots on mediocre players just because they are available. (I'm not trying to say that that was your intent.) :hi:

The NCAA rule is 25 to enroll per class. This does not count any back counts.

The SEC rule is 28 per class. This counts back counts. So we should always enroll @ least 22 as long as we don't go over the 85 limit.

Tennessee has two back counts from last year. So, we can enroll 27 with this class.

No he's not!

"The Vols now have 22 members committed or signed for the Class of 2010. Quarterback Matt Simms and wide receiver Kembrell Thompkins were able to sign early due to transfer rules. Three commitments - quarterback Tyler Bray, linebacker/fullback Channing Fugate and wide receiver Matt Milton all enrolled early and will be eligible for spring practice." This article is from Jan 11. Here is the link. What has happened since Jan 11 that makes this not so?
