The NCAA rule is 25 to enroll per class. This does not count any back counts.

The SEC rule is 28 per class. This counts back counts. So we should always enroll @ least 22 as long as we don't go over the 85 limit.

Tennessee has two back counts from last year. So, we can enroll 27 with this class.

This is NOT correct. This topic was discussed ad nauseum last Sept. & this was posted by LV back then:

No. Hubbs said this:

I had been led to believe by some coaches, administrators and league officials that the max number that a school could sign was 28 period, but apparently that is not how that policy was finalized. You can only sign 28, but that does not count guys you back count from the previous year. Which means you can sign more than 28.

So if we only enroll 17 this year, instead of 25 + 2 (back count from 2009) = 27, then we could enroll 25 + 10 = 35 next year, provided we have 10 EE's. And we could sign 28 + 10 = 38 as long as we place 3 in juco. All without going over 85 schollys total.

Clear as mud? :p

Not quite...the most you can back count in a single year is 5 (can't find the link)...so that would make the max total you can sign for one year 33...even then you would have to sign and place 3...

this is why barn fans say they can sign so many this year...

I am correct. I said enroll. You said sign. There is a difference.

A team can sign & enroll 25 players each season to a football scholarship (NCAA rule) as long as they do not go over the 85 total player limit. This 25 player limit does not count any back counts that a school may have.

This past season the SEC passed a rule that schools in the SEC could not sign more than 28 players.

All players that a school signs over 25 + their back counts, must be placed at another school.

Tennessee can enroll 25 + 2 back counts for this next season.

That is correct. 25 + 2 = 27 max. for this year.

But if we don't sign that many this year, we can back count the difference next year as long as they are EE's. Right?

The 28 limit on signing players excludes the back counting. With all due respect, :hi: please show me a link that says otherwise.

I hope it's a moot point & we sign 27 great players this year.

Looks good to me...but I would take Jones off for sure...the only reason he looked here was because he really iked the idea of playing for MK...and it would have been a long shot even with MK still here...

I also think we're out of it for good with A Dixon...but who knows with him..

If I'm not mistaken he's being recruited here as a TE and imo he's not really a longshot because we're still #1 on his list of schools
