Aside from turning walkons into scholarship players how does this staff address the defensive line? I’m surprised Rodney Garner hasn’t been more successful with DL recruitment.

I read this as M’ba and Coach G didn’t see eye to eye on things.
I got to spend time with Coach (Rodney) Garner and learn about how he develops players. He has a good track record, but what I was looking to see was how I would fit in with them. For me, you can be the best coach in the world, but if I don't fit in with you, I am never going to be able to be what people expect me to be. That was an important thing to me to really focus on during the visit.

Why would you read it like that? All he did was explain why he wanted to talk to CRG.

Well I wonder why he would bring it up without any type of affirmation. It's kind of like if something is good, you say so, but if it's bad you don't say anything at all.

I dunno I might be reading too much into it, but I think he only brings up the "how I would fit with them" statement to counteract Garners good reputation, and that he probably doesn't gel with him. Again, I'm just guessing.

I didn't read it that way at all. To me he is just explaining the process he is using to select a school.

But who knows....
