'22 CT DT Jeffrey M'ba (JUCO)

everyone knows Tennessee, you can thank Jack for that

Plus Stax Record's Memphis sound, Elvis, Country music from Nashville and Opryland, then bluegrass and its many legendary pickers. Countless movies and celebrities, professional sports teams, and our beloved Big Orange have also helped folks around the world learn about and easily recognize Tennessee.

I read this as M’ba and Coach G didn’t see eye to eye on things.
I got to spend time with Coach (Rodney) Garner and learn about how he develops players. He has a good track record, but what I was looking to see was how I would fit in with them. For me, you can be the best coach in the world, but if I don't fit in with you, I am never going to be able to be what people expect me to be. That was an important thing to me to really focus on during the visit.
Initially when I read that I wanted to hang on every word and came close to your view but then I re-read with my orange goggles off and simply saw a young man give his thoughts on what he is looking for from CRG or any coach that was going to send him to NFL !.

"I know coach Garner is a great coach and has put tons of D lineman in the league but I think I know much better what it will take for me to be successful."

If the dude thinks he knows more than coach G, he ain't smart enough to play no school.
Maybe Garner was upfront and he didn’t take it well. My understanding is that CRG makes you work for it once on campus.

The way I read it is the Fit has to be right no matter how good some one is. If we don’t go together it won’t work. I can see how someone could read it both ways but the context of the story is important here, and I didn’t read it.

To me that sounds like it may be for the best if true. Kinda entitled and like he expects coaches to adjust to him instead of letting a coach maximize his potential. From what I have read, RG doesn't take any BS and Mba may have not liked it or was scared of that.

Well I wonder why he would bring it up without any type of affirmation. It's kind of like if something is good, you say so, but if it's bad you don't say anything at all.

I dunno I might be reading too much into it, but I think he only brings up the "how I would fit with them" statement to counteract Garners good reputation, and that he probably doesn't gel with him. Again, I'm just guessing.
I just don't see that. And remember he's a native French speaker, right?

Did he actually say that? If so then bless his heart.

I think sometimes these kids, if you want to call them that, get so intoxicated by being courted by these big time programs they start to ignore anyone talking real to them. They dismiss it and doubt anyone that speaks it.

Quite the quote that tells you he doesn’t take to coaching and criticism

I’m probably going to get backlash on this, but I think kids (they are still kids), have so much thrown at them with the NIL and are starting to believe they own all the power. Just from what I’ve read, adults are jumping to do whatever it takes to get a player to their school of choice at all costs, they’re not considering what that does to a 17 to 20 year old mind, and they don’t care. I miss the old days.

You can't teach wisdom. That's what they're lacking. That's why they should listen to those that are wise.

That wasn't actually his quote, that was me extrapolating from his quote. Sort of reading between the lines.. Just want to be clear.
I understood you’re meaning but it’s confusing if you’re not following the whole thread here. I could see ppl thinking that’s his direct quote. Doesn’t look like we get the kid but I don’t like to misrepresent someone especially if I don’t know what they’re thinking.

Maybe that can be a new job position in all these player’s recruitments. I’ll sign up 😁.
This is them when you're preaching wisdom to them....
