cubs

yeah thats possible. I still see milton bradley as being the guy. I think he can change his act if he comes to the cubs. D-lee and A-ram are good influences. plus I mean if we can handle big Z's problems milton should be a piece of cake.

yeah, but i dont want too many emotional guys. if we cant find a guy with good obp for rf, at least find a great defensive outfielder for the job.

yeah but jsut remember burnitz................ he made me sick so much at the end of last year. I jsut hope murton does good being a full time hitter. and rf will be covered. hendry wont mess this one up. I am still stoked the pulled juan pierre out of the bag. if we get a rf, we will be locked in for offensive produciton. what scares me is if d-lee is going to be as good this year as last...

cbs actually thinks the marlins got the better end of the deal. im a little worried that we had to give up 3 young pitchers. that will limit our ability to make other deals. i wasnt high on mitre, but the other 2 could be great. either way, how does this look:

1.pierre
2.walker
3.lee
4.zambrano
5.rf
6.murton
7.barrett
8.cedeno
9.pitcher

eh walker at the two hole, i just dont like that for some strange reason. i think thats how it will start, but it will end up after the first month like

1.pierre
2.murton
3.lee
4.aram
5.walker
6.RF
7.cedeno
8.barret
9.pitcher

murton would be good, but walker has more experience and is the prototypical 2 hitter. i dont really like barrett at 8. let cedeno hit 8 until he gets into the swing of things. barrett was a silver slugger at catcher ya know, and with cedeno at 8, the pitchers will have some speed to bunt over.

great point. I just like Murton alot and thought that he should have gotten alot more playing time last year. i just hope walker doesnt struggle near the end of the year like he is proned to do, but he has done some great things for us. and hitting between pierre and d-lee, can you imagine the pitches he is going to see.

i dont think we will have to worry about murton getting playing time. im just worried about injuries. hopefully aram doesnt start out as bad as last year as well.

yeah thats true. I dont try to worry about injuries. cause one of these years we are going to be injury free and when the cubs are injury free, no one can beat them in a 7 game series.

did they ever name the player that texas is giving us for van buren? i think we may find our right fielder there. we could end up getting mench or maybe even brad wilkerson since they picked him up from washington for soriano.

The Rangers reportedly rejected an offer of Corey Patterson for Kevin Mench.

milton bradley is still high on the radar.

and cubs are in hot presuit for Lugo huff and also trying to get cliff floyd..

mostly the same ol' same ol'. floyd and drays are always floating around on cub boards. bradley is probably likely. i heard about the mench for patterson thing. why has that player still not being named because its obviously not mench?

its proably a minor leaguer they are trying to work out. the thing is this player has to be good, cause van buren was one of the cubs better pitchers in its already deep pitching farm.

yeah, i dont understand why they traded him unless its for a good player. van buren never even got a chance but was really good in the minors. so far this offseason, the cubs have traded 4 minor league pitchers so they wont be making too many more trades. i wouldnt be surprised to see walker, kpat, or wood traded though but not many more minor league pitchers.

yeah but at least they kept guzman, his stuff is electric.

who all have the cubs gotten so far this off-season i know they got peirre is that all??????????

theyve got 2 relief pitchers(howry and eyre), john mabry and juan pierre. the only real hole left is in rf. they might also try to upgrade the middle infield, bullpen, and/or starting rotation.

Cripes, I didn't know they got Mabry off the Cards. They didn't offer Sanders arbitration either, what the crap on they gonna do with their outfield I wonder.

The Cubs HAVE contacted the Orioles about Tejada. The Orioles do NOT want to trade Tejada anywhere in the AL East. The first person John Stockstill (who was the Cubs scouting director and now assistant GM with the Orioles) called was the Cubs and Hendry. There will continue to be serious discussions between the two teams. The Orioles haven't made the decision yet that they are trading him, but if they do make the decision, the Cubs will be very serious players. Jim was very upset about losing out on Furcal and he'd turn that aggression to Tejada. This is a situation in which Jim would trade some of that "untouchable" talent and both sides seem to feel that there could be a match. Hendry would try to make a trade without losing Murton or Pie but none of the farm talent (that Stockstill is well aware of and helped build) would be entirely off-limits. I can't say we have a good shot - because they haven't even made the decision to trade him yet - but I can say that Hendry is extremely interested and we know his creative trade history. Hendry joked that losing Furcal at that price could end up being a blessing in disguise.

i wouldnt mind seeing wood(or williams), walker(or cedeno), cpat, and maybe some prospects. maybe there could be a 3 team deal with the cubs getting manny, the red sox getting tejeda, and the orioles getting some of the players i listed.

talks are heating up between the orioles and the cubs. the cubs are dangling prior in a package deal for tejada, but the a's are entering the picture as well in a deal that would most likely send tejada and zito to the cubs.

Its looking like a three way deal where the cubs will get tejada and zito, baltimore will get prior, and the a's will get prospects (most likely guzman, hill, and dopriak).
