Cuonzo > Calipari

It's funny how coach Cal's teams keep getting busted for cheating yet they never charge or penelize Cal. Do you think KY fans will be upset when they get busted for cheating and Cal waves goodbye on his way to his next scam?

Does a bear **** in the woods?

I think Cuonzo has the potential to be better than Cal, but it's clearly way too early for such a bold claim. Cal recruits elite talent year after year and usually gets pretty good production. I'm still amazed they didn't win a title with Wall and Cousins.

Cal is a lesser coach than who??

The home loss to 1-9 Austin Peay, the blowout loss to a very mediocre Memphis team, and the losses to College of Charleston and Oakland have really shown what a superior coach Cuonzo Martin is to John Calipari.

Ky with all americans and two future NBA 1st rounders barely beat a unranked Tn. with no serious SEC experience. :salute:

. UK is expected to play questionable early in the season, the freshmen are still learning.....remember last year when UK lost almost every road game? That was a final four team by March that was 1 shot away from winning it all.

Couldn't that excuse also be used by Tennessee?

We've COMPLETELY changed our mentality from last year and we play freshman who are way less talented than Kentucky's.

On an away floor, playing mostly freshman in mid-Jan...evidently. We'll see the score difference when they play at Rupp.

Lol at all of this. Don't try and pretend that KY doesn't go deeper than their starting 5 with NBA players. How many UT players besides a less than true freshman would see minutes on KY's team? The youth excuse doesn't hold up either. 1-2 UT players saw serious minutes before this season. Oh and there's the little fact of having an entirely new coaching staff with a polar opposite style compared to what our team is used to.

Don't look now, but your agenda is showing.

I'm not going to look up stats, but I guarantee UK has more freshman playing significant mins than UT does. If you think Martin is a better coach, then I guess we'll see in the next couple of years if he gets them to the final four.
The bottom line, UK starts every season terrible and gets better and better more than any team in the country because of the loaded talent thats mostly freshman. Last year is a perfect example.

Yes, it could also be said for UT....but the Vols dont have as much youth as UK. Both teams are going to get better, I just believe UK will get better quicker because of the talent gap between the two. When they play again it wont be a 3 point game, write that down.

I never said CCM was a better coach. All I said was for this one game he did a better coaching job than Cal to have us in this game. This team has no business leading KY most of the game and coming up 2 points short this year, this early in CCM's UT career.

Kentucky will lose at least twice more before the tourney. Write that down.

CCM is a great coach. But, so is Calipari. His work at Memphis and UMass is good stuff. The two just recruit different types of players. CCM coaches the fundamentals and intangibles, while Calipari lives and dies on the natural talent he gets.

If the talent is anywhere close, we win that game by 10+.

The future is bright. We've got a good one on our sidelines.

Calipari is seldom referred to as a good in-game coach. He does most of his work in practice and on the recruiting trail. During games he simply throws the ball on the court and says "Play".

We shall see. Rupp is a tough place to play.

While I agree with the OP I don't know if that much to brag about or a reason to feel good about our coach. Honestly I can't think of the last coach at UT that would be in danger of being outcoached by Cal. If recruiting a bunch of 1 and dones then rolling out a ball and telling them to play is coaching then yes he's one hell of a coach. I'd rather have a coach that does just that...coaches, knows his x's and o's, and can develop players.
I do like Martin though and think he well be one hell of a coach, just get a kick out of people comparing any coach to coach Cal.

Tubby Smith disagrees with you.

Agreed - I actually thought that Cal made some nice adjustments and you don't just throw a bunch of great athletes together and have them jell and play good defense without somebody coaching them up. I don't care for Cal but Ky is an athletic and well coached team.

We are getting better each game - I like where this is heading.

When we're back in the tournament in 2013 with a good seed, the poster you quoted will still be talking about Austin Peay, and after Calipari and World Wide Wes move on, he won't be here at all.
