Cuonzo > Calipari

I think Cuonzo has the potential to be better than Cal, but it's clearly way too early for such a bold claim. Cal recruits elite talent year after year and usually gets pretty good production. I'm still amazed they didn't win a title with Wall and Cousins.
Probably because Wall's head was already in Washington  Great start by the Wizards btw LOL.

It is WAY too early to compare coach martin to any other coach in the country, and quite honestly is just not fair to do. Be patient, wait until he gets some kids in here and coaches them for a few years and then make a decision as to how good of a coach you think he is at that point, when he has actually proven. At this time nothing more should be said than, i feel good about our coach and i am excited about the future of tennessee basketball.

UNC just got SMOKED by Florida State....I guess that no name FSU coach is light years ahead of Roy, UNC does have the superior talent. X's and O's!!

yea this whole rush to judment on players or coaches is really the dumbest thing i have ever witnessed. imagine the things said about coach knight or coach k in their early careers. people need to chill out be patient and after time has passed(meaning a few years) step back and you should be able to make a pretty accurate assesment as to that player/coaches impact and talent.

Bruce Pearl often out-coached Calipari, too. He's far from the best x's and o's coach in the game but when you bring in the talent he does you don't have to be.

exactly. i dont care if your coach k you have to have the players to put out there. with that said you can be pastner but if you cant coach it doesnt matter if you have a top 5 class every year your whole life. you have to find that medium and cal has found that at uk, unfortunately.

If the talent is anywhere close, we win that game by 10+.

The future is bright. We've got a good one on our sidelines.

 Martin's done a decent job this year, eventhough UT has 8 four-star players and a 5-star player (not exactly a bunch of hacks). But let's let CMM win 500 games before we compare him to Cal. Cal took a UMass team (after Camby) that had a 6'5 PF to 30 wins - he has done it with less before. No slam on Martin but Cal is approaching HOF status, like him or not. If he stays at UK, he'll be HOF guaranteed, doubt Martin will be HOF, but who really knows.

He might make the rivals.com recruiting HOF. But, one Final Four is not a coaching HOF resume.

I think it is crazy to compare the two and quite frankly i have no concern in KY or whatever they do there..Who knows what the future will bring, but the Vols are so much better than they were a few weeks ago, and how hard these kids are playing for Martin is amazing...I see the guys who were the starters all year before the new lineup, and u look at any of those players on the bench, and they are just as focus from the pine as they are when in the game, and they want success no matter who is getting it done..Say what u want about how Pearl could bring in talent, but these kids will not quit on CM like Hopson and others did Pearl's last game...And remember that team was highly ranked and respected while losing to Oakland and College of Charleston, as well..

I don't have anything against Coach Cal, actually i like him because he does look out for his kids..If they are going to be drafted high, he begs them to go pro..Now on our Vol 4-star players, they might turn out to be really good players, and hopefully coaching will help them in that venture..But if u compare Tn's talent level to that of the last 3 recruiting class, i think u are mistaken..Cal did not make John Wall the No.1 choice 2 years ago, nor will he be responsible for Davis being that, this upcoming draft..4-star or whatever, those left were no where close to the talent Cal had and has..This Stokes kid is the only one on the team that Cal would have recruited to Ky or Memphis, so pull for our guys instead of trying to size their talent on that STAR SCALE..

UT played a good game today and we seen the first of a soon to be force in Stokes. I hope UT has continued success and gets into the NCAA tournament,as this strengthens the SEC nationally.

A few weeks ago, there was a different attitude from most on here, calling for Martins head. One game doesn't change the future ,but I think he will do good for UT.

The same old Calipari bashing gets old, the man was never charged or found guilty of any wrong-doing. Let it go.
It takes alot more than "rolling the ball out" with elite recruits who have ego's from always being the star or go to guy. Coaching and recruiting a new class of these players every year is something only Calipari has shown the ability to do on a steady basis. Calling him a slimeball etc is you're opinion, but look inward at Lane Kiffin and Bruce Pearl to get a look in the mirror.

Congrats on a well played, tough game. I hope you win alot and think you will.

Thank you, but you'll never convince a rival who hates your coach to feel otherwise. If you weren't a UK fan, you'd most likely have a completely different opinion of Calipari's past.

I understand your feelings. Do you also think John Wooden was a cheat? He had Sam Gilbert providing everything...cars,trips,abortions paid for players and their families. Wooden knew to a degree and felt something was wrong. He was responsible for his program. A likeable old man, like Joe Pa, but still wrong is wrong. Do you feel as though UCLA should have been stripped of 10 titles? Seems the NCAA had a "hands off" approach to him and to this day use selective enforcement. UK,and UT can both argue that point.

Again, good luck and I dread facing Stokes the next few seasons, will be all conference if not all-American.

I agree regarding Wooden. The part about him that sickens me the most is the pedestal he was put on by the media throughout his retirement. To this day, people talk about him like he was one of the game's all-time greatest coaches. Yeah, I'd like to do some "redecorating" at Pauley Pavilion.
