But should be fired if he loses the next one unless he wins the one after that....
If they back into the NCAA's and bomb out in the first game it's still going to be hard to believe CCM has things going in the right direction. Only reasonable to expect a pretty hefty drop off next season with all the talent leaving. Replacing stokes and McRae will be a tall order whoever is coaching.
Wow!!! Really??? After the 41 - 67 loss to Florida, several people were predicting that he would be fired after this season for not making it to the NCAA. Now, by winning two SEC games in a row, he is given a little mercy.
This season, we will have 4 seniors graduate and Stokes will be a 1st round NBA selection. So, the roster will really be depleated.
Just look at the box score. 22 by Stokes, who is declaring for the NBA. 26 by McRae, who will graduate.
12 by Maymon, who will graduate.
Where will next season's points come from????
This is/was the season for us to make a big run in the NCAA. Maybe we will peak at the right moment, and can still get it done.
Nobody is disputing that Martin is a good guy. But as a coach he is bad. So do you want a man that can teach life skills or one that can coach? Ideally it would be both not a pickem.I realize this thread was started in jest but it seems about the best place to post a serious comment as any on VN.
I heard an Antonio Davis interview on the Dan Lebatard Show last week or week before and that dude is real. They didn't even discuss the normal former player stuff; NBA playoff matchups or can Melo play with other stars? They discussed real life money, family and responsibility issues and he was REAL and HONEST. He discussed that what made him an NBA player was because he didn't have much growing up so he was driven to go the extra mile for what he wanted. With his kids he has limited them on some things that even their friends, who's dads weren't former NBA'ers, had. My thought out of this was that if that guy believes in CCM and he wants CCM responsible for the continued growth of his son then I have to believe CCM is doing the right things. I know a 5 minute interview can encapsulate the entire character of a man but it was one of the best real and honest interviews with a former athlete that I have ever heard, so it struck a chord. I understand there are a lot of people who can mentor and raise young men and not a lot who can raise banners at the same time but I believe in CCM.
Does anyone really want to beat their chests because we beat Bama? They were the worst team we faced all year. I mean really?
