If Martin doesn't make the NCAA tournament next year with the roster we'll have then he's not our guy. He's done pretty solid his first two years considering the circumstances.

I don't see him gone next year if he doesn't make the tournament though. This administration doesn't care about Tennessee athletics like they should.

Dooley was an awful hire, but otherwise, the AD has done his job. He canned Dooley, and I would be money that he cans Martin if we don't dance next season.

Hart knows that Martin has shown signs of promise. With our talent coming in next year, and Martin's ability to sign high-caliber players, he deserves to coach every game next season.

Things take time. I'd be right there with you if we still had Dooley and if the bball team were bottom dwellers of the SEC, but neither of those are happening.

How have standards been lowered? The NCAA tournament is still the standard, but those in charge are smart enough to go through 2 coaching changes in under 3 years. My god, I can only imagine what you would do as AD. "You didn't make the Sweet 16 after cleaning up a mess, you're gone." New coach fails to make the NCAA tourney in year 1: "You didn't make the NCAA, you're fired." Etc. That'd be REAL good for the program.

That would be year 3.. I was saying even if he didn't make it next year he might not get fired.. Try to keep up or don't talk..Kind of makes you look stupid.. I was referencing the low standards in football might translate over here.. :thumbsup:

Dooley was canned in an appropriate time frame. They gave him a chance, he couldn't do it. Firing a bad coach early on CAN dig a bigger hole for the struggling program. We struggled to get Butch, do you think if we fired Dooley earlier, we would have had a better chance to get a better coach? EXTREMELY unlikely.

Dooley should have never been hired in the first place.. A total waste of 3 years.. Then it was supposedly the best job out there and they get the fat girl at the prom treatment.. Something isn't right in Vol land.. You'd have to be a blind, koolaid slurping fool to not see that..

I'm going to give Jones a shot. There is reason to believe in him, but I agree 100% that the Dooley hire was a joke

The team played hard if not smart the whole game. Do u think Golden missed those shots on purpose? This team is not that good; a game like this was overdue. Dont fire CM over one game, after 6 wins. He deserves another year - we can still win the SEC tourney.

He gets his shot because he has to be given his shot.. He gets off to a rough start and the seats get real empty quick.. Things will turn south for him quicker than they did for Dooley.. That's the reality of it..

As far as Martin goes.. He's backing himself into a corner also.. He's got another year.. I'd suggest finding a real point guard or call your realtor..

How many coaches were contacted that rejected the offer(s)? Exactly. There's not much that can be done when no one is willing to come here.

Im mad we lost today and put some of it on cuonzo, but if we don't win the sec tourney and make the dance then next year his seat is burning hot....3 years of not making dance=fired...thats the way it is. These guys are getting paid millions to produce results and we have to hold them accountable

If we do end up with an NIT bid I hope we decline it or play Stokes/Golden/Mcrae at a minimum. No need to risk further injury on something that's absolutely pointless, especially after this season.

He was too cheap and the brass was too cheap.. We'd have a good coach if that weren't the case.. Mid Major Mike wasn't going after any real coaches.. Looking for that diamond in the rough hire on the cheap..
