Cuonzo receives raise

2. So 1 NCAA every 4 years is your goal, because that appears what Hart has basically said keeps his job. Miss his first 3 and he'll be retained for a chance to make it his 4th year? I thought your goals were NCAA trip every year you said?

I think any coach who doesn't make the NCAA with the tallent on the roster this season regardless of years service should be replaced. This assumes no rash of injuries.

BTO - you yourself have stated several times Stokes is gone after this season. From the tallent currently on the roster, that leaves Hubbs and Richardson as the only 2 higer level recruits and I don't recall Richardson being that well thought of out of hs but I may be wrong there. Since we don't know who will sign this season until NSD, the remainder of UT's current roster was not highly ranked in hs and would not rank highly against the rest of the SEC.

Cornish & Cofer are both signing in a couple months, so that's why I included them. Obviously we're losing alot, so if you're gonna sit here and say 1. You can't count stokes 2. You can't count freshman 3. You can't count Hubbs.....then you're handicapping this to the point where, yea Tennessee is gonna look pretty bad next year.

Now, if CCM signs a great incoming class things will look better (but it has to be more than what is currently commited - needs at least 2 top 50 guys or 1 top 15 type). If Stokes unexpectedly returns, things will look better.

As for CCM's pay, he's a relatively unexperienced employee hired into a position with a large pay range. He has a chance to double his salary or more if he's successful. He's currently compensated based on what he can demand in the market place. I'm hoping he makes himself much more valuable!

If you wanna look at things objectively the best way to do that is how I've said. Remove our graduating seniors, and add the 2 freshman who are rock solid commits and are signing in November. Will Stokes leave? It's very possible, but when comparing Tennessee's roster next year to the rest of the SEC I doubt you're gonna go as in depth as to project who goes pro and stays from each team.

So, like I have been saying...next years roster when you remove seniors and include our current commits has: 2 five stars and 4 three stars who were ranked in the top 150.

How many other teams in the SEC have better?

I agree, I have stated as much. However, I don't think Dave Hart necessarily agrees which was my point.

I didn't intend to infer that Hubbs shouldn't be counted. I was attempting to say outside of Hubbs, CCM's recruits to date were not universally respected out of hs. My bad if it came across different.

As for SEC players turning pro beside Stokes, other than Ky (which is the measuring stick for the rest of the SEC) I doubt anybody turns pro unless its the knucklehead from Ole Miss assuming he's there this season. We'll all be shocked if Stokes returns (even though I doubt his currently displayed skill set translates well to the NBA) so I think its reasonable to count him gone. C & C are solid commits, but not top 50 types. Hubbs, Richardson, and C&C freshmen still doesn't rank that high against the rest of the SEC.

CCM desperately needs more high level tallent. He's obviously trying hard and I hope his hard work pays off!

Uhm...was Jarnell Stokes not universally respected? He was higher rated than Hubbs was...

Florida has multiple NBA quality guys, LSU does as well. There's more schools besides Tennessee & Kentucky with NBA talent on their roster. It's impossible to project who's going and who's staying, that's why I said, the only objective way is remove graduating seniors.

Sure Tennessee needs more top 50 guys, but so does every other school in the SEC besides Florida and Kentucky. You'd be surprised if you looked at the other rosters, that's why I keep saying it. We have two 5 stars and four 3 stars who were ranked top 150, how many other SEC schools can say that? Like I said, I feel you'd be pretty surprised with where that stacks up in th SEC if you'd take your time and look it up.

If we do not get to the Sweet 16 this year, he needs to go. He is not recruiting enough quality players to keep us where we deserve to be. With our fan support and our budget, we should make it to the tourney every year. I hope we can have a great year and He becomes a more consistent recruiter. Basketball like football is more about the Jimmys and Joes than the X's and O's.

Sweet 16 ? Why not the Final 4 or the NC ? Donovan and Calipari did it -- why settle for less ?

Tony Barbee is getting ready to be fired and rightly so..... I don't care what he makes my expectations are the same no matter what he makes or who the coach is.....making the tournament almost every single yr and a top 20 class almost every single yr. Martin still has a chance to become that coach but he has to prove it.

Barbee would have been fired but they had Chiziks huge buyout plus they fired the softball coach (that was there for 17 years)

Not sure why there continues to be a breakdown in communication concerning Stokes? I believe Stokes is a fine college player and understand he was a top 10 ranked recruit out of hs and has been CCM's best recruit to date. By all accounts from everyone who appears to know, Stokes is also gone after this season.

If you say Hubbs, Richardson, Davis, Thompson and the C&C freshmen stack up well against the rest of the SEC then I'm surprised but I will take your word on it as you know more about it than me.

I think you're joking but until someone has the resources consistantly, they shouldn't have those expectations. CM needs to make a statement in the tourney over the next couple of years just to get the respect of his own boss.
