Curt Maggit?

Slow now that he has packed on the LBs. Most assumed he would be the same speedy 220lb guy that came in as a freshman. Will be interesting to see how the new weight works as we run through the season. He is still doing great, but just not at the same speed.

Another player that fans hyped up for no damn reason whatsoever

I think we have plenty of reason to hype him up. He is a definite threat to the oppposing team when running the ball to his side and he never bites on the inside stuff and stays home and waits for it to bump outside. I watched this all game at Neyland Saturday. That my friend is a very consistent approach on playing DE and could save us from long chunks of yardage on his side. Im very happy to have him where he is. Just because he hasnt clowney popped someones helmet off doesnt mean that he isnt holding his ground and executing a very high percentage of plays. Its only game two and weve played two teams that had a dual threat QB who in my opionion were the only major speed on the field, which is important for Maggit to stay put and play conservative.

Once we play a pocket passer, he will pin his ears back and unleash the BEAST! :devilsmoke:

Unfortunately it seems as if Curt is just one of those guys who rarely plays at 100% health. Before he tore his ACL in 2012 it was turf toe, and now he is dealing with a high ankle sprain, which I'm not sure you can recover from while continuing to play.

Curt ( along with JRM) has given us the hybrid players defensively that are required to play against the hurry up offenses being faced today.
Those two are critical pieces that have allowed us to do so well on stopping drives that we have not been able to stop in years now.
He's in position and hand-cuffing the offense fairly regularly. Doesn't necessarily show up in the individual stats though.

He had a couple TFL against Utah St. Against Arkansas St. he didn't have any breakout plays, but he did get pressure against the QB.

The guy is going to be rusty after being out a whole year.

Reeves Maybin has 16 tackles, 2.5 for a loss, 1 sack

Maggitt has 6 tackles, 1 for a loss

Would like to see him step up more but JRM is looking good

Looked like the coaching staff was using him sparingly. Personally, I think it's smart, because we're going to need him during SEC play

Lolol I'm sure the fans on your Gator board are hyping up Driskell like no other. You probably wouldn't know though, because you're always here.

Ha! 5.5 ypa against lowly Eastern Michigan. Doesn't quite crack the top 100 in CFB.

He has done his job and strung out runs to the sidelines and contained QB bootlegs against both Qbs who had wheels. He is getting there. To me he is like Hurd who hasnt played in a while, hes doing his job and will get better every game.

This. and I wish I remember the play but I remember him making a GREAT one against Arky State. I need to rewatch the game.

The 99gay-duh troll probably won't shut his drooly mouth until his but buddies are whooped out of Knoxville. Don't respond to him fellow VFLers. I know it's tempting to take the bait, but "ignore" is far more effective.

Some of y'all just can't handle the truth.

He was a fine prospect coming out of high school that has been injured often and is pretty much invisible while on the field.

I'm sure he contributes, gives his all, is a good teammate, and has plenty of qualities that are beneficial to a football team.

Is he an impact player? No. He never has been and more than likely never will be.

99 I have too agree with you on this.He has huge potential. But hasn't produced the stats too say he's a difference maker.Could be because of injury, coaching changes, ect.But until he proves it on the field you are correct.

I was definitely expecting more of a rush and some sacks from him and Vereen but it's possible they have had other duties in the scheme (contain) with dual threat QB's. However, if that open things up for Weatherd I'm all for it. Dudes a beast.

Don't know if you can run a inside stunt with only 2 LB's...But with his speed would great to have him come up the middle
