Cut to NC State?

This is the first of the Cutcliffe rumors that have made any sense at all to me.

That being said, I don't believe he goes anywhere for the foreseeable future.

unless he's just wanting a raise. his contract was more than a year. again, as has been posted in many many threads. cutcliffe has said since day 1 he would love to be a head coach again.

Why do so many people think that Cut won't leave for a decent head coaching job if he offered?

After going to ND and having heart problems, he stated emphatically that he wanted to be a head coach again..... and please don't say that Tennessee has promised him the HC position when Phil retires.

NC state is decent program similar in stature to Ole Miss.

Also, if he took a HC job, his salary would be really close to a cool million (if not a little more).

You all will probably bring up that Cut is "loyal" to Phil....... Need I remind you that Cut left the Vols to go to Ole Miss. If Cut is offered a decent HC job, he will most likely take it.

The real question is whether he will actually get any offers????????

Considering how his presence affected our team this year- there's no doubt that he'll get some offers =\

Amato was making slightly less than $1 mil and he was the golden boy returning home when he took that job. Don't know how likely the next NCSU coach will be making more than that. Plus with Butch Davis setting up shop just down the road, how good of a job is NCSU?

Cut is obviously a good coach but can we all remember that two of the reasons he's thought of so highly are named Manning. At times it seems the attitude is Cut taught those Manning boys all they know. He's had some pretty good material to work with when it comes to QB's (Ainge included).

Yeah he's had good material to work with (part of which he gets credit for recruiting), but I think we all saw the diff. between Ainge under Cut's tutelage this year! (even with giving credit to better WR play under TT). He's def. a good offensive coach - I don't know about HC, I didn't really follow the Ole Miss situation very closely. But he seems to be a good guy, so if we only have him for this past year, so be it. Good luck to him - whatever happens!

True, but Ainge showed his talent during his freshman year, too. While he maybe a good recruiter, I'm not sold on his game day coaching (too predictable).

I'll tell you somebody that should be trying to hire Cutcliffe - the NY Giants. Gilbride is the equivalent of Randy Sanders as a QB coach.

Eli's mechanics were terrible at the end of last year, he improved his mechanics at the beginning of this year, and now his mechanics are atrocious again.

Its better then Ole Miss. They have talent at several postions, not just depending on an excellent player at one position. Plus the acc will be much easier to win then the sec ever will. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense...go to a mid-level acc team, start winning big in a year or two while the acc powers are down (miami, fsu), nationally he'll be recognized for winning at nc state, then turn that as a springboard for a well-paying sec job.

Guys, Cut is going to leave in the next few years. We might as well deal with it sooner than later...

The only way Cut won't be gone next year is if he has a terrible year, not something we want anyways.

I live in Raleigh and tonight on the 6 o'clock news Cowher said he was NOT interested in the NC State job. The News and Observer and all of the media here are saying that it NCSU is targesting Chow and Cut.

Why? Worried about recruits?

as far as recruits go, I'm scared to death that Butch Davis is now going to be taking our recruits out of North Calilacky.... Having someone like Cut take even more of them scares me even more

i was thinking the same thing the last two weeks, eli could use his help for sure, but nygiants appear to be a sinking ship, if cut is to go there it would be after coughlin is dumped. just my thoughts...:whistling:
