CWS Game Thread - Other Games

I have zero doubt he’ll pitch Game 3 with a title on the line. The natives will drop Jay Johnson from the pedestrian bridge and watch him sink in the Missouri River if they lose a game 3 title with Skenes on the bench.

Yep, absolutely no way in which Skenes doesn't start on Monday if it gets that far. Yank him if four days wasn't enough rest, but if he's good Skenes is the best shot at bringing home the hardware by a long shot.

I think the vast majority of LSU fans don’t expect to see Skenes pitch again. Some are thinking we may possibly see him for a couple innings in a game 3 if necessary, but still not likely. However, most of us are hoping for a couple days of rain delays so that will change!

MLB pitchers rarely pitch on three days rest couldn't see a college pitcher doing it at all. Might do a inning to help win but don't think 125 pitches are doable

Fraud for WF may be strong. Again clarification was needed and my point was they weren’t the best team in the country all year as was crammed down our throats by a lot of the guys at D1 baseball. Their stats and record were a product of their conference/competition IMO. They’re solidly a top 10-12 team but I think the record, stats and even their postseason run may have looked different had they played an SEC schedule.

The pitching was elite so it would’ve kept them in a lot of games but their explosive offense was completely shut down in Omaha by good but not great pitching (the staffs aren’t great, but have been great; make sense?) outside of last night. LSU’s pitching has been great the last 2 weeks but nobody would’ve said coming into the CWS that LSU’s pitching, outside of Skenes, is great, same for Stanford outside of Matthews.

My point was playing our schedule, your schedule, UF’s etc. they would face that stuff 25 games out of 30. We saw how easily it was neutralized, I have no reason to believe it would’ve been much different during the regular season. As I said before, I think they wind up 16-14 to 20-10 in the SEC and closer to the lower end of that range, that potentially puts them on the road for the first 2 rounds or at least on the road for Supers and nobody is talking about Wake in the same light as they did all year.
I think you just need to choose a different descriptor other than “fraud.” That’s my biggest hang up in this conversation. Charles Schwab field alone can put a dent into any teams offensive stats. Add in the fact that you have the best 8 teams in the country, with some good to great pitching, and again, the offensive stats are going to take a major hit.

Every team that made it to the CWS averaged no less than 7.5 RPG. I don’t know what the individual or combined team averages are in Omaha, but it’s nowhere close to that. That doesn’t mean any of them are frauds. WF was one game away from the finals, and that’s a hell of an accomplishment. Any win in Omaha is a hell of an accomplishment.

I understand your comparison to the SEC, and I do believe the SEC > ACC, but that doesn’t mean the ACC isn’t good. They are. It’s a pretty stacked conference. I’ll tell you right now though, nobody (including SEC teams) wanted to see WF before getting to Omaha this year. Just ask Alabama!

Man, sometimes ya just gotta let it go. Wake had the 3rd most Q1 wins behind only LSU and UF. Yes they had a SOS of 27, but that’s not terrible. Ain’t a whole lotta point in getting worked up over a word, or bearing down to try to change somebody’s mind.

unfortunately, I think you’re right. I might have to take up golf. Not sure I will still be watching when that happens.
Always be cheering for the VOLS , wither volunteer or paidenteers . Rocky Top I'll always be. Ah sports fan like to see competition good for society . Nothing better than to cheer for the home state with the family.

Thank you wise one for responding to our humble supplication. The issue of fraudulent CWS teams is still being considered, yet discussed. We seek a final judgement and closure on this matter.
It is the opinion of Weezer that the word "fraud" was thrown out in a moment of hurt that Tennessee lost, and anger that two SEC rivals that everyone hates with the passion of a million suns have advanced to play for the title. Tigerguy just has to accept that we hate his team and will strike out at them in emotional fits of rage. Emotions are rarely rational.

Weezer has spoken.

Thank you Sire for your gratuitous and inspired decision!

Not worked up at all! lol Just having a conversation! Didn’t realize there was an expiration date on said conversation, but consider it closed!

The Chuck also neutralizes a lot of offenses when that wind is blowing in at 15 to 20 mph like it was doing most of this week. Not to mention it’s large outfield dimensions. The warning track ball that was caught by FL would have been a HR in every MLB ballpark according to one stat that I saw.
