speak for yourself. The people need a limited gov't and not one that gets involved in every aspect like the current socialist-leaning one. It's just getting worse but hopefully gets slowed down in a couple weeks.

keep believing that the gov't wants what's best for you and we'll continue laughing

1. I eel pretty confident speaking for everyone. Unless you can point to a libertarian utopia(maybe Somalia).

2. When did I say the government wants what's best for you? I'm just not naive enough to see the world as private sector and government and say one of these wants what's best for me. Do you think microsoft want's what's best for you?

3. This government is so far from Socialist. Our taxes are lower then theywere under Reagan.

ok cashvillian. your "funny money" comment shows who you are. i'll answer this even though you've stated this many many times and never provided actual real examples.

i'm taking about glass steagal. specifically how does glass stegal prevent the current problem? in your opinion woudl banks have not been able to sell credit default swaps with glass stegal still in place? if so why? be specific.

so how do you determine how much capital is needed? do you assume a 100% loss? even if in the history of these instruments there were never large losses? what do you consider capital? cash? bonds? stocks? be specific. but yeah it's oh so easy to do right?

I'm not cashvilian or anyone else you nitwit. A for regulating CDO's this is getting more ridiculous. You expect me to write up a finacial regulatory bill right now? You do realize we have economists and regulatory bodies to come up with the exact figures. As for saying they never lost money. Uhh hello they didn't hardly exist until the massive deregulation.

everyone? Please, there are so many for limited gov't in this country and more are waking up by the day. And I never said no gov't just less of the bloated, pandering, handout crap we have now.

has M$ ever claimed to be working in my best interest? They only owe things to a select group and it's up to the consumer to make the choice whether they are worth it or not. The gov't is the opposite yet they claim to be working in the best interest of the people. Everyone is all for punishing the investors who broke the rules but when the gov't breaks the rules that have been around for a couple hundred years you cheer. Why is that?

does this gov't not own a car manuf (means of production) and discussed taking over banks? Are you claiming this is a capitalist-friendly gov't?

of course you are. what are the chances that 4 posters in a row with under 20 posts have exactly the same arguments and are all different people?

what massive deregulation are you refering to? CDO's have existed for 20 years. are you really this ignorant?

You realize they took it over to save the company right? If they were socialist they'd have taken it over for good not to rescue some corporation.

I believe the word you're looking for is "unions" instead of company/corporations. There were better ways to do what they did but it wouldn't have helped their friends. Not to mention I believe it was illegal but who cares about that

huh? they own most of the company. to get bought out gm has to be worth 10 times what it current is. this was a payout to obama's union buddies plain and simple.

I believe we should just assume that unions are worthwhile and good in Ed's world.

Obama's union buddies lol. Some of you guys are too much. Yes, clearly unions are so powerful in this country. Why the hatred for unions anyway? In a free market you would need unions. There's no reason employers should get together to bargain, but not employees. This is the kind of "propaganda" I was talking about most of you guys would say you love the free market, but you hate on unions.

are you seriously arguing unions aren't powerful?

how in the world are unions helping the free market?

You guys listen to too much Limbaugh or Beck.

Listen to neither but it is obvious to all but union employees and left wingers that unions have out lived their need for the most part.

Yes, the "power" of unions is miniscule even more so than in those horrible "socialist" times in our country like the 1950's.
In a free market employees have the same right to collective representation as employers, why wouldn't they?

Their need? I'm assuming you mean people don't die in factories anymore, so no more unions! A union's need isn't that mysterious or scary. Employees have the same right to have representation at the bargaining table as an employer. That is a free market how else would fair wages be decided upon?

In their original intent, Unions are a beneficial tool for employees to use. Unfortunately in our society we have unions that are ran by people who wouldn't have the first idea of what their members need.

A union rep should be an employee that works with you and understands the workers he/she works with. Not some guy who gets paid like a manager and works as a manager.

yeah their power is really miniscule: Obama and Biden Welcome Labor Unions Back to White House

how do you figure employers have the right to collective representation? you do know what collusion means and that it is against the law right?

That's fair, but that's an argument against how you say unions function not whether they should function.

Are you serious with this question?

I didn't realize men and women were forced to work for any particular company.

Not sure if you're joking. How does an employer have representation? That's pretty much one of the main functions of a corporation. And Obama welcomed unions to the white house the horror. They should be welcome so long as corporations are welcome( I guarantee you they are and have been). If you just refuse to believe anything I say google it. 1. See the number of people in unions today compared to 50 years ago. 2. See how much unions spend on lobbying, and compare that to business lobbying. Then tell me about the mighty power of the unions.
