That will crush attendance for the visiting teams. Not the best way to grow the game. Heck, I had trouble practically giving away premium tickets for Clemson. I can’t imagine if Regionals were on West Coast or in Chicago. I do think they should get rid of RPI.Is there a way for them to calculate a NET like in basketball? The formula might need to be tweaked a bit but that would be a great way to see teams ok this format. Also, I’m not big on expanding to 72, but I would be interested to see the tournament format changed to 3 weekends of best of 3 series leading up to Omaha. Also the regional matchups can probably be looked over now, especially with conferences themselves being less regional, and if funding is a problem just have the NCAA cover all travel and lodging for visiting teams. In short I think it should no longer be regional, so 1 plays 64, 2 plays 63, and so on. Also no reseeding, the bracket stays as it is. The last piece is that the entire bracket should be decided by the NET ranking, so no human intervention whatsoever
I remember that Clemson ticket situation, I ended up just buying a couple standing room myself cause it’s so hard to know when your teams gonna be playing and can lead to attendance problems. This would at least help all the games to be played in packed stadiumsThat will crush attendance for the visiting teams. Not the best way to grow the game.
