Dale Jr.

It's obvious that the 88 team has written off the 2009 season. At this point, they are working on set-ups and chemistry for 2010. Yes, he might be 25th in points but several good drivers have gone through season long slumps, some even longer.

Juan Pablo finished 25th last year. He is running pretty good now. Dale Jr. was in the chase just last year too. Ryan Newman was 17th, Kurt Busch 18th, Vickers 19th and Reutimann 22nd last year. I would say all those drivers are running much better in 2009. Why can't Jr. turn it around in 2010?

He might be mediocre, not sure where to draw that line with Cup drivers since it really is a team sport but I would give him more than a bad year before I write him off.

Jr. may never be a champion but I see no reason why he can't win races and make the chase most years.

i wrote him off in 2004 when he practically had his name engraved on the trophy, only to blow by running into Carl Edwards.

So JPM in his second full year of Cup, is comparable to Dale in his what, 8 or so years of Cup racing?

Come on.

Come on.

This is JPM's third full season so he had been to every track last season. If we dismiss JPM from the discussion than how do you explain the other 4 drivers I listed improving this season?

Have you watched Jr. drive this year? He is fighitng the steering wheel every week. How many times have the announcers pointed out that his car is loose and you see the tailend break loose? Part of that falls back on him if he can't give them the right information, sure but he has to have a car that he can drive to be competitive.

I pointed those guys out to say that with the right changes to the car one season from the next and having better luck can change the whole outlook.

I know Kurt Busch is a great driver but the DNF's killed him last year. Drivers can't always prevent wrecks and mechanical problems and Jr. is going through that this year.

I have a question for you. Since Dale Jr. made the chase just last year, did he lose that much talent over the course of one season?

What a load of crap that site is. The following quote is listed under facts.

Since Junior entered Sprint Cup many drivers have won more races then him

By many, I guess they mean two. Only Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch have more wins than Jr. since he entered Cup.

Here is another jewel listed as a "fact" on there.

Junior’s cars almost always qualify in the top 10 but he NEVER wins

So it's a fact that Jr. "almost always" qualifies in the top 10? Someone better let the team know because they've been lining the cars up wrong if that is true.

They seem to have their own definition of many and almost always.
