Dalton Knecht commits to Vols

I didn’t quote or reply to you arguing your post, I was just sharing the stats of both players? However fwiw, in their 2 games this year Knecht had 45p 14r 4a 2s & Venters had 29p 9r 4a 1s 🤷🏻‍♂️

My point was their stats don’t tell the story of their role on their teams or why Knecht wasn’t the MVP, which is not disproved with more stats.

Well lets see - - with the Vols maybe a 10 pt avg. around 8 rebounds and maybe 20% from the three line. Yeah we can get him down to this with no problem!!!

I just hope he is not another Justin Powell. He played so well at Auburn (especially 3-point shooting) and could not get it together here, for whatever reason. No one’s fault, just did not work out.

Guys have certain roles at other teams, which have different offensive systems. That is always the question mark with in-transfers. Knecht was one of No. Colorado's primary scorers, had the ball a lot. Can he function well in our offense, with others having a lot of ball? It will take some time to develop chemistry--let's hope it happens.

Powell’s sample size at Auburn was too small to make any judgments from

Agreed. I think Knecht has a much better shot at being successful here than Powell.
If history has taught us anything, we shouldn’t over expect transfer production. I’m sure eventually one or more of the transfers will be a top flight player but we’re still waiting. I’m choosing to be pleased if they are just solid rotational guys myself.

Great pickup. Young Man very skilled offensively. No doubt TN roster will have many combinations to play with depending on opponent. This does tell me they are happy with Freddie at PG Santi can play it as well. Rick watched FL Atlantic get to final 4 with one big and 4 guards. Practice will be a battle for playing time. My favorites are the ones saying it doesn’t make sense because we already have too many great players!

Gotta give Barnes credit where it’s due. No other SEC team worries me next year.

I’m hype, and think we have a season like the 21-22 season, but further in the the tourney lol

Kentucky should - not sure even Cal can screw that up?

Watching twitter highlights on Knecht makes me very happy to have him on next seasons Vols hoops roster.
Without question. He is skilled and just needs to learn the offense, needs to be given the confidence to be aggressive and let him go. Show him clips of Admiral Schofield and tell him, “be aggressive like that guy and don’t be afraid to pull the trigger”. Play with freedom!

Do that and he should be our #1 option on offense. He and Vescovi complement each other well, and Ledlum’s highly efficient game in 2-pt range (approx 56%) provides another threat opposing teams have to pay attention to. Knecht and Vescovi on perimeter gives Ledlum room to work. And an interesting tidbit to note, Ledlum attempted almost as many FT last year (143 attempts in 28 games) than Nkamhoua attempted in his entire UT career (159 total in 112 games). We will get to the FT line more with this group.

ZZ (if healthy) can be that playmaker he was becoming during SEC play and could have a ton of assists. Aidoo can be more perimeter oriented from FT line and potentially to top of key if he expands his range and be used on rolls to the rim. Awaka doesn’t need anything run for him, just tell him to go get every missed shot. Our offense is going to expand with these new players and everyone will benefit from one degree or the other.

Now our defense will suffer but we know Barnes isn’t going to let it slide too far, so Knecht and Ledlum are going to have to put their work in on that side of the floor too.

Hopefully Santi doesn’t play the point. I’d rather see Mashack there. Santi’s role needs to be spot up shooting and coming off screens.
