Dalton Knecht commits to Vols

What's the thoughts on what this says about JP and JJJ? Does this pretty much signal that they won't be back?

If offensive stats relative to other conference players were the only qualifiers for all-conference selections, Vescovi probably would not have made first-team All-SEC the last two seasons.
yeah, its funny how when people post stats for players they forget that defense is a big part of the game. I have no idea what this guy's defensive stats are and seeing as Barnes wanted him hes likely at least not a liability. Sometimes a players stats dont tell the whole picture. Draymond Green is a good example, Ben Wallace. Some people make their impacts in ways that aren't easily tracked in a box score.

I'm glad we got the guy but interested to see what this means for JJ, Uros, and Phillips. I mean With him coming and Santi coming back doesn't that leave us with no spots left for either of them to come back? My feeling is if JJJ or Philips want to come back they will make room and if so who loses their spot?

My point was their stats don’t tell the story of their role on their teams or why Knecht wasn’t the MVP, which is not disproved with more stats.
Agreed... averaging a few more points on a really bad team does not count as much as contributing on a winning one. A team 20 points ahead does not care if you dropped 30 on them.. Looking at their record last year Northern Colorado was at the losing end of some beatdowns including an opening season loss of 83-36...

His team was baaad. The lead the team with 230 rebounds the night person on the team had 129 he was also second on steals with a massive 25 and lead with blocks at 18. Not discounting him as a player at all. On a good team, those would be ok stats for a guard. Think about it. Outside of points none of his stats would have been outstanding or team-leading if he'd played for UT. He was literally all they had. I was looking at games played and minutes per game and it does not look like they had injury issues their team just sucked. He is a good player that was stuck on a terrible team and had to play hero ball.

So he was probably double teamed a lot and still recorded those numbers. very impressive.

Antonio Reeves played on a 20-loss team at Illinois State 2 years ago and averaged 20 ppg before moving on to Kentucky last year. His PPG dropped by 5.5 ppg but still averaged 14.4 ppg. But he also played about 7 fewer minutes per game (only 27.9 minutes per game) at Kentucky than he did at Illinois State. Shooting almost 40% from 3 pt range. He was very productive despite stepping up to a higher level of SEC competition. Hopefully we get something similar from Knecht, if not better.

Northern Colorado was a horrible team as others have noted. Particularly on defense and they were poor rebounding team too. Overall Kenpom ranked UNC at # 222 out of 363 teams. Interestingly enough South Carolina (SEC team) was ranked at # 221.
