Dan Mullen is at it again - Transfer Portal

No, I didn't. I said that a school recruiting a player currently on another school's roster, and not yet in the transfer portal, is cheating. I have said multiple times that I have no proof, but that doesn't mean that this is off base or wrong, either. This alleged conduct will be hard to prove.

Oh so you're just blowing smoke because "dem Gatahs are evil" Smh

So when the “rumors” start flying it’s usually because someone has jumped out and started doing something better and more efficiently than everyone else. Like the rumors about Georgia “dropping bags” in recruiting or all of Georgia players driving “Dodge Chargers” or all of Alabama’s players driving “Ford Raptors” or all of Clemson’s players getting away with PED usage or Tuscaloosa Police being in Saban’s back pocket, etc.

I’ve said it for months and everyone just sorta dismissed it, but Dan Mullen is ahead of the game with this portal thing. Nobody has added more talent to their roster, and continues to add more talent than Mullen. So naturally, Rival fans and programs will take notice and instead of giving credit, they’ll start nefarious speculation and rumors about how it’s happening.

And watch how it takes off... all the rage will be that Mullen is cheating somehow by landing these portal guys.
I'm not like that. It could be a good thing if you get the right guy " to fit your system". It has to rear it's ugly head eventually in the form of depth and players being on the same page. At UT a transfer just can't walk in and know the system. It's a matter of coaching preference and Smart, Saban, and coach O, aren't exactly going crazy over the portal. I've repeatedly noticed you applauding Mullen for it. When is UF gonna beat the big 3 in the SEC? Currently LSU,UGA, Bama?

Oh, so he’s guilty until proven innocent. It’s guilt by accusation out here. That’s the internet for ya.

You can feel free to ignore it. I'm not forcing you reply to my posts. There is quite a bit of rumbling about this on other college football based message boards. That is why I brought it up when the Gator fan began this thread that "Dan Mullen is at it again".

You do realize Florida beat LSU last year, right, and amazingly, was the only team to lead LSU in the 4th quarter this year.

Florida hasn’t played Bama since 2016, they’ll get another shot in 2022, unless both teams make an SEC title game before then.

Florida has to get over the Georgia hump. Close in 2019, but close doesn’t cut it. Mullen needs that one in 2020.

I know they are recruiting well, but it wouldn't surprise me if 2019 proves to be something of a one year wonder for LSU. They were nothing like this on offense last year. They were even shut out at home by Alabama 29-0. They will still be good... but they will go back to losing to Alabama again next year, and probably two other games as well. Florida will probably beat them in the Swamp next year. I really don't think that LSU winning the National Championship and then signing Ed Orgeron to a huge, long term contract extension with a $12 million buyout would be such a bad thing for the rest of the SEC.

I agree. I could see this be an aberration.

Rumors are circulating that Florida has been sending out back channel messengers to former 5 star recruits who aren't starting or getting much playing time ... just to let them know that there is a place for them in Florida's lineup if they enter the transfer portal. Then once they do? Mullen is on them like white on rice. This may be something to watch for down the road.

0-12 plus the death penalty

Agree, and I’ll add that they won’t keep OC Joe Brady forever. Someone is going to give that guy a shot as a head coach, or the big boys in the NFL are going to throw ridiculous dollars at him to become an OC at that level.

So they lose Burrow, and NOBODY will run that system better than he did, and then possibly lose Brady within a year or two as well, and they’re back to being another Auburn type team, up and down, inconsistent, sometimes really good, but prone to letdowns.

You do realize this is the “around the NCAA” folder, right? Florida is around the NCAA last I checked.

Then talk about the portal in general. You’re in here tooting Florida’s praises and worshipping the genius of Dan Mullen. I don’t see any other fans doing it. You need validation, congrats. Lol.

??, I'm not sure what everyone expected would happen. It's what coaches do, find away to work the system.

You post as you wish, I’ll do the same. You can’t have a discussion right now on programs that are benefitting from the portal without leading with Mullen. That was the point of this thread. It’s as good and relevant an offseason topic as anything, especially sandwiched between ESD and NSD.

Well you know...our board?

It’s not 1999. Every single board worth clicking on these days has contributors from numerous fan bases. The Gator boards I’ve frequented have all had UT fans among others. You’re fortunate to have some really good Gator fans here. You’re welcome. 😊

Here’s to a peaceful offseason. ✌️ 🍻

Keep telling yourself that as you shiver yourself to sleep. You serve no purpose. 😴
