For those of you with questions why pick up a player from Winthrop, a lower D1 school, google her name and Tennessee and you will see articles of how she played against UT 2 years ago.

I doubt Cooper will replace Nared in your scenario. I think it would more likely be SG - Diamond, SF - Nared with Cooper first off the bench with Carter.

I don't think Diamond wants to play at the 2, she is better served at the wing spot and Cooper (her running mate) will be in the starting lineup as well so Nared will start/play at the 4 or will be the first off the bench, book it

I think we'll do more 4 out 1 in.
Reynolds
Cooper
Deshields
Nared
Russell

Nunn will help Russell and I would love to see Kourtney and Meme get some time next year.

My how far we have fallen. To get excited to get a graduate transfer from a low tier D1 school that will be on campus for 1 yr.

At this point, we are grasping at any good news that come out of our program. Before we throw this young lady under the bus, it is only right that we give her a chance to prove herself. The good news is we gained two players with potential and we have not had any program defections. From the up and down year we had last year, that is very good news.

Both of our recent recruits play a position of need. I think that without these young ladies we would be in potential trouble at the post position. We just have to hope that our coaches have a plan that will bring out both recruits potential.

The Big South is a very weak conference with absolutely no competition. Last year, Winthrop finished dead last in conference play. That doesn't mean Nunn cannot play, it just means that her stats are relative to the level of competition she faced. Every year in WCBB, there are only four or five teams that play quality basketball. If a player is performing well against those four or five teams, she is the real deal. If not, it is best to wait and see how she performs against "real" WCBB players before anointing her as the next "big thing."

Don't matter where they finished last year because she broke her foot and didn't play last year so you can't judge her because they finished last

ITS a good get . Someone who is experienced and its not like she jusy put up big numbers against the lower teams not only did she have a double double against us . she had 10 blocks against Mississippi state .. 10 rebounds against auburn and Ohio state in 2014-2015 season. and she was the focal point with other stars around her she should be able to get rebounds and put backs. good get

Please google these names:
Alberta Auguste
Shannon Bobbitt

They came to UT from community colleges and contributed right away. It turned out ok.

Totally agree. These two recruits are stop gap signings for the upcoming year. The real test is how Holly does in signing 2017 recruits. Both Diamond and Mercedes could leave after this upcoming season. That scenario would make 2017 recruiting ultra critical.

Of course, had Nunn opted for another program, you would likely have been posting -
well, look how far the program has fallen; we can't even recruit graduate transfer from a low tier D1 school that will be on campus for 1 yr.

This is clearly a stop gap measure to fill the post deficiency created by last year's recruiting failure. The success of Nunn's recruitment will depend on whether she can make a solid contribution (I don't think anyone expects her to be the salvation). Time will tell.

Vollyparton mentioned Alberta Auguste which is a fair comparison. Though a guard, Alberta had a specific job to do-- be a lock down defender and any scoring she provided was gravy--She was there to support CP3, Nicky, Bobbitt, Lex and others who provided the offensive spark. Nunn will likely be asked to play a similar support role as a post player.

My guess is that she is going to be a major cut above any juco transfer the program could have found. She has experience at the D1 level at least and she is a not a kid but a 22 year old women. Physical and mental maturity can be a big plus.

In the end, the LVs have gone from only having Mercedes as a post option to having two additional defensive minded bigs, each of whom have show some promise. Is it the best of all possible worlds? NO. But is it an improvement from the dire straits of March? Very much so.

Good job Madtown, we must take this for what it is, we cannot servive with just one post in the top level of the SEC, unless Russell becomes over dominate, and even if she does, there will be foul trouble and a need for rest. In this situation, Holly did a dissent job. To determine the full affect of this move we need to allow it to play itself out.

Those are pretty good stats. She's cute too.

Nunn has comparable stats to Graves both in shooting percentage and rebounding. She is a better shot blocker but not as good a free throw shooter. Considering all we had was a bunch of tweeners to play the four she is a huge get for us. I think she starts at the four and we can bring Harris along slowly next season.

Nunn ranked first in the conference and ninth nationally in blocks per game with 4.1. She pulled down a league-leading 6.7 defensive rebounds per game and finished second in total rebounds per game with 10.5. The 6-3 center from Fayetteville, Ga. averaged 13.6 points per game -- good for sixth in the Big South -- and shot 51.3 percent from the field, ranking fourth in the conference. Nunn paced the league with 14 double-doubles this season, which ranked 21st in the nation. She received three first-place votes to become Winthrop’s first Defensive Player of the Year honoree. Campbell’s Kiera Gaines and High Point’s Stacia Robertson finished tied for second in the voting.
