Do not underestimate Dooley's recruiting prowess. He was Saban's recruiting coordinator at LSU. Remember when they kicked our butts in the SEC Title Game in 2001? 'Nuf said.

I'm sure they got those players because of Dooley and not Saban. Right.

I'm starting to think Dooley ran over SGM's dog on the way to his introductory press conference. There has to be something personal involved to warrant the time and effort spent on going through every thread and counter acting anything positive said towards CDD.

No doubt. It's like he gets paid to jump in every thread on here just to spew negativity over and over and over. Every. Single. Day. Sick life indeed lol

Here's the deal. I'm the best there is. Plain and simple. I wake up in the morning and I piss excellence. -Derek Dooley

I'm just a big, hairy, American winning machine....If you're not first, you're last - Dooley

I'll jump for joy on signing day.

Until then, commits aren't as important as some make them out to be.

I have no doubts that DD will work his ass off for Tennessee. The big question is: Will it be enough? The next 10 months will go a long way to showing if it is.

I'm with you, I was underwhelmed when DD was announced as our new HC. As I learned more about him I saw some reason to believe he could help us rebuild. Only time will tell and my opinion of him on every aspect of coaching will form over the next 5 to 8 months, by this time next year we will be in a better position to see what the future holds for us under his leadership.

Lack of commitments don't necessarily bother me either.

Elite kids are going to be a little indecisive when it comes to picking a school on its third coach in three years.

DD will have prove something on the field before we get a lot of those guys IMO.

He's doing a good job getting top tier guys thinking about Tennessee too.

I'm afraid the on field results this year are going to push some away.

but early pt helps..kids know the history of the vols...so they would be the ones who bring it back

If TN can pull off a big upset in september - maybe Oregon or UF - it will be a huge step in the recruiting process. Alot of these big name kids will want to see CDD do something on the field before committing to give him thier next four years.

It looks like CDD is laying the foundation for TN to get a solid class as long as things go good on the field this fall.

Ehh to a degree.

You still see Bama, USC (until yesterday), Florida and the like get ridiculously talented players to sit the bench while the ridiculously talented starters play out their eligibility.

I am glad they are doing their job but the fluff threads are bout as annoying as the gloom and doomer threads.
