Dang, Dooley is seriously doing work on the recruiting trail

We will be fine. The staff is hard at work they are getting kids here that I didn't think we'd be able too. He is building a foundation one block at a rime. If we can have a decent yr and make a bowl game in his first yr that will help sway recruits. If we go out and get pummeled that may obviously hurt. UT has a lot to offer these young men they need to see that and want to be apart of the tradition and history to be here. Not everyone is cut out to be a Vol but those that are we need to get here. He's doing a good job getting top tier guys thinking about Tennessee too.

I'm afraid the on field results this year are going to push some away.

This is where supposed "moral victories" matter in spite of the opinions of some here.

If your team shows up and plays solid disciplined football with an intelligent gameplan then you can sell "we could beat them with you". If you look like Fulmer did the last few UF/Bama contests then kids presume you aren't close enough for them alone to make a difference.

UT doesn't have to win this year. They just have to compete better than expected on a weekly basis.

Kind of what JG is trying to say, but the real test isn't getting our hats on the table on Signing day, it is getting them on their heads.

Luckily it is June and we have PLENTY of time to make that happen. Top 15 class with tons of Lineman sounds perfect to me!

I know.

I'm afraid they aren't.

We all are... or else should be.

I feel a little more comfortable with Thompson and Smith on the D staff and Chaney in charge of the O.

I know Wilcox is supposed to be Boy Wonder but I want to see how does week-in/week-out against top notch competition. It is much easier to prepare for 3 or 4 competitive games per year than nine.

I agree, I think the D side of the ball from both a coaching and talent perspective is much better. I don't worry about Chaney being in-charge of the O so much, I honestly think he'll do a better job of game planning and play calling than Kiffin did, which is not a knock on Kiffin, but a vote of confidence in Chaney.

As you stated we just need to perform better than expected week to week, or if we could pull off a solid win (upset) against say an Oregon or someone on that level it would definitely help. Another W against UGA would be pretty much make the season complete.

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.

We hear of guys talking positive things about UT but even the ones who were supposedly on the cusp of committing haven't. I do not believe the sky is falling or anything of the sort... but would like to see some solid commits from some of these guys before "chilling out a bit".

chill out

Having Chuck Smith on staff is already paying dividends and I love it. With his NFL connects, he could be an unstoppable recruiter.

I keep hearing people praising Chuck Smith. Can we please wait to praise him AFTER we sign some players. Just a thought.
Sincerely,
R.T. Liles

I'm sure they got those players because of Dooley and not Saban. Right.

Im sure that Lane Kiffin got his jobs at UT and USC because of all the great things he had acheived too and not because of his Dad or Ed. Right?

Wow, first thing I think when I see a meeting called in the middle of the night is bad news.....but I hope you are right.

The staff caught wind, through their sources on VN, that SMG and Figi didnt approve of the lastest TE commit. Therefore, they are going back to the drawing board, obviously taking the advise of our local recruiting experts
