Dang...Todd Kelly might be a legit option @ RB

Is anyone actually surprised that a legitimate SEC-caliber athlete is better than adequate in more than one position? I'll admit TK2 looks pretty good in these highlights, but it's not exactly a new practice for the best athletes on a HS team to play both ways. Marquez North was playing QB and RB in HS, and Emmanuel Moseley, a '14 DB commit, has been playing QB all season. Again, this isn't exactly new. The Cam Sutton recruitment thread is full of well-intentioned idiots talking about how he projects better at WR than CB...but I don't think anyone's asking for him to get looks at receiver now. Kelly will be a hoss at safety on the Hill, just like Hurd will be a hoss at RB.

There's a reason everyone is recruiting him at safety.
That's often because they recruit them at the position they get the most playing time. But it's not always the case. North was mostly a RB his senior year. Who knows whether or not Kelly's HS coach started giving him a lot of reps at RB AFTER he was already committed here?

You don't know...so, your statement is just a mere assumption.

he looks good against them white east tennessee boys

Webb is a TSSAA D2 school, which means they play in a "district" with teams from Nashville and West Tennessee. They also played 6A champion Maryville and 4A semifinalist Knoxville Catholic in non-district games. You can attempt to dog east Tennessee "white boy" football all you want, but Kelly's team played a pretty solid scheduled and TK2 is the real deal. His offer list is incredible.

Kick returns maybe? Kind of reminds me of Dale Carter the way he runs...very loose, smooth.

Would have had Eric Berry as QB or in our secondary? It's pretty much the same argument, IMO.

No it isn't. Berry did not have the size or arm to play QB at a high level. Kelly is as impressive or more so than other that are being recruited as RB's. That may not be the move... but it would not be a bad move. He's an instinctive and determined runner.

I am really impressed. This is the first time I've seen these highlights. He is a load on offense and it's just not the speed. Look at his quickness and moves. When he has the ball, he just commands the field. On defense he is a guided missile, or should I say ICBM. When he hits you, you're going down. Thanks for posting the video.

He's a high 4* or 5* safety if he would have camped more. He will compete for starting time immediately. I would say we would have some big injuries before he gets looks at RB.

Lane and Hurd will likely start. Would need injuries to both.

He has running back vision, great jukes and cuts at the right time. He would be an asset at RB for sure.

If TKjr wants to play some RB, and the coaches see that as an option, let him rumble. I don't think the highly experienced coaching staff here will have a say.

I know we are recruiting him as a safety, but after watching his highlight film, kid's got some skill as a RB, too.

Hope he gets a little look-see from Bajakian....specially if we can't land Derrell Scott.

Pull a Jack out of the deck like UCLA , won offence and defence of the year for freshman as RB and linebacker on defence.

Tennessee is lacking 3 great things!
1.) SPEED
2.) Debt
3.) More Offensive Production

Tennessee doesn't need TKII on offense seeing as they've got Jalen Hurd! Leave him on defense where he belongs with the Berry Twins, Sutton, Johnson, Maggit and help improve the speed on D.
TKII is a killer safety and the highlights already got me ready for 2014.

Debt? Is a great thing?

I just want to see somebodys helmet go flying after they had the ffffffffffffffffffffff knocked out of them for crossing and if our player gets tossed so what, let us be the bullie instead of the 4 foot9 85 pounds soaking wet kid. One more thing TKG is our starting on the D, need head hunters on there and he can be the next Berry.

He has such a long stride that he doesn't even look like he's trying that hard to go fast. He just glides to whatever speed he wants.

I can't wait to see .TKJ suit up in the orange. No matter where they play him I think he is going to make a impact.

IMO he seems to have a lot more potential at safety. He looks like a sure tackler and a hard hitter. We need that attitude terribly in our defensive backfield. Plus I think we have enough talented running backs that will get the job done. I can't wait to see TKJ in orange!

Got plenty of debt thanks to Mike Hamilton.

Depth on the other hand is a different story.

The kid will be an asset at either position. He is very intelligent with a great set of parents that do not interfere with his or his coaches' decisions. This VFL will be in the NFL.
