Danielson "Butch Jones will have them ready"

So does anyone else notice how the thread topic was completely hijacked by a poster with 2 posts to his credit? We're feeling good about CBJ being our coach and someone starts this dumpster fire and vanishes, leaving us to argue and bicker with each other.

Congratulations, you've all been trolled.

:p

Haha. You're right. Not actually being a butt to Boca but he picked out one point of like 5 in a reasonable comment that I don't think applies/matters.

What we were talking about again? Oh yeah. Danielson and some such

Tennessee has the most wins in the last 50 years of major college football!!! GO VOLS!!!

Maybe this is what I heard. Thought it was 1950 but maybe last 50 years even with our recent down years. I have heard 3 different TV announcers say it

It's really hard for me to believe Butch would leave UT for Michigan. I know he's from Michigan, but it's not like he graduated from UM or coached there (ala Kiffin).

I see UM going after a successful coach at the mid major level or someone with ties to the program.

Butch has a Michigan type job already in the greatest conference in college football. Perennial Legendary Football Power House in the 800 Club! The Big Failure is no man's land for a proven winner. Urban Meyer can tell him all about it

If Tennessee does not beat the every living crap out of Florida this season, I don't know when the circumstances will be better for a win.

You're just setting us up for an even more miserable loss.

You know how the UT-UF games go, 99. You guys are almost always in control from the word go, irrespective of the overall talent levels or W/L records of each team.

Any fan who believes the current coach is 100% committed to their current progam is setting themselves up to be disappointed. Coaches are no different than any of us.

You may love your job, but if an opportunity came along that doubled or tripled your salary what would you do?

Peyton Manning took less $ at Indy so the team had more salary cap room to get better players! Why can't a coach be loyal? You think big Bobby Bowden would have ever left FSU?

"SB Nation looked at college football’s most winningest teams since 2003, and five SEC programs were among the top 15 programs that recorded 100 or more wins. Here’s a look:

1. Boise State 125
2. LSU 117
2. Oklahoma 117
4. Ohio State 115
4. USC 115
6. Texas 109
7. Virginia Tech 107
8. Oregon 106
9. Alabama 105
10. Georgia 104
10. TCU 104
12. Wisconsin 103
13. Florida 102
13. Florida State 102
15. Auburn 100

Is it surprising programs like Michigan, Tennessee, Miami, Clemson and Notre Dame aren’t on the list? All five of those programs have great tradition and a rich history but have struggled over the given time period."

Oh look , I can google too. And neither UT or UM are on this list for the last 11 years...huh, it's like they both haven't been a great program in over a decade. You know, before recruits were 7 or 8 years old and can remember watching games on TV...

Facts work funny ways when they actually are relative to the point I am making:

As of today, Michigan is a lateral or downward move from UT

Only because UT plays in the SEC. Michigan's program hasn't sunk to where UT's has as of recently. They won the Sugar Bowl in 2011.

I'm not dismissing all of what you said. In fact, I agree with most of it. I've said the same about UT that there's almost a generation of kids that don't UT as an elite program.

In these tough times, many UT fans are quick to point out accomplishments before color TV and integration. They justify losing to Vandy by saying Robert Neyland was hired to beat Vandy, etc.

I don't know about that. We're getting better and they are not. As long as we have Butch and they have Muschamp the odds get better every year

I was agreeing with him. A win against UF is a milestone for any UT team. This game dictates the season for UT since 92. I will never take this game lightly.

So why did Butch leave Cincy? He said all the same things at Cincy that he said about UT. So why did he leave?

I like Butch Jones, but some of these teams are going to call him. It's going to happen. Will he listen? He ALWAYS has in the past.

I actually think Butch stays here for a long time if he's successful over the next few years. The Big 10 is a major step down and I think Butch is a competitor that wants to beat the best. Urban Meyer is the opposite of this. He can say it was his health and family, but I think he knew times were changing when Saban entered the SEC, and his Gators weren't going to be as good as he was accustomed too. Don't get me wrong, he's a solid coach, but it was clear to me he didn't have the drive to coach among the best year in and year out. He just wants wins and that's what he'll get coaching in the Big 10 with that soft schedule. I know people hate Saban on here, but I gained respect for the guy when he stayed at Bama. He could of took the money and ran to Texas where it would have been an easier job for him but he stayed and played with the big boys. I believe Butch has that mentality. He likes the challenge of competing with the best week in and week out. As long as we pay him what he's worth, I think he stays put here.

ESPN Radio is saying Butch will leave after this year to take the Michigan job next year. The powers at Tennessee better pay him his worth now with a raise and a couple of more years to his contract. I personally don't think he would leave with all the hard work he has put in to rebuild this team BRICK by BRICK.

Better get ready

Okay. I just don't see UM as a big step up or enticing enough to take our coach or many good/proven coaches ( not saying ours it yet).

I think UM has had slightly more success historically (100 years) and 1 or 2 more good years over the last few than us. They just have looked like crap this year and parts of last and don't seem they would be that attractive other than the "are UM" and the money etc.

Trying to look at it unbiased, which is hard to do as a Vol fan, if I were some random decent coach and I was offered the UT and UM job today. I don't see a big advantage to either one, unless you go BIG10 versus SEC toughness to win

Good post. :good!:

What would be your criteria of paying him what he's worth?

That's all I'm saying. They have the $$$$ and an easier path to success.

I'm going to need a link.

He never said Cincy was a destination job.
You don't think we're on the same level with Cincy do you ?

Being that you're on the Internet I'm sure you know how to use a search engine...or are you just that lazy? Here's a snippet, you can find more:

UC extended Jones’ contract through 2017 at the end of last season after he reportedly turned down overtures from Illinois, North Carolina and UCLA. His new contract increased his guaranteed annual compensation from $1.1 million to $1.575 million, with annual increases through 2017 when he would be paid $2.05 million in the final year of his contract. The contract includes a $1.4-million buyout if he leaves UC before Jan. 1, 2013.

“I think I’ve proven that I want to be here,” Jones said last year after he agreed to the new contract. “This is a very special place. We’re building something really special here. I ask our players to make a commitment and I need to make a commitment back.”

Okay. I can agree with that. But at first it's not what you said (not to me, said it to others). You just said they are the most winning program historically to me.

I don't think that applies/matters right now. For UM or UT

They're not chopped liver.

Again, people like to point to history when the present isn't so great. Well, it doesn't get much better than Michigan's history.

I agree they've been floundering along but not to the degree of UT...part of that being UT plays in the SEC.

This is a 7 win team at best. If Michigan hired a coach that's 12-12 or so his last job their fans will freak.

Of course, I never thought USC would be crazy enough to hire Kiffin.

So...trying to get back on topic here.

Florida @ Tennessee. This game should only be Tennessee with the home field advantage (-3). Of course, the outcome of the UGA game will influence this line. If we somehow find a way to win in Athens, the line holds. If it's all Georgia next week, Florida comes in as 10 point favorite.

Both teams have their fair share of issues on both sides of the ball. UF has the mental edge in this series lately.

Tennessee OL will need to have one of it's better games to allow the team to win this one.

We might win, but beat the ever loving crap out of Florida? Uh, not likely. UF's defense is still very good and our offensive line is, well, not so much.

Nick Saban says hi. Texas was willing to give him over 100 million to coach yet he stayed at Bama. So no there are exceptions.

SO ....Now Little Nicky is the barometer for allegiance ? I am now worried, but these days if nobody wants your HC then you suck !

Serious question, too lazy to look it up, and to see which ones are real or not. Do you know how many NCs they claim? Or them and Ohio State claim?

I can see this. 3 points at most. I wouldn't be shocked if it's a pick 'em or even UF -1.

I agree UFs defense looks good on paper but they gave up a school record 700 yards to Bama today right?

I am not discounting their d line nor will I think we win until we do though
