Dang, I like wearing ties. I would wear them more often if weren't overdressed in my office. Maybe I should do it anyway. I would literally be the only person wearing one.

i prefer to email White and Boyd and let them know we’re eligible to coach! 🙂

I encourage everyone to write them to let them know your displeasure, expectations and that Barnesyboy is now officially on the clock!

That abysmal performance yesterday is 100% inexcusable for a $5m coach and should never happen! Totally unprepared, outcoached, and looked nonchalant about it yesterday and ALL YEAR! You have 6 days to prepare and you come out like that? I, along with many, think him going to UCLA would have been a good thing, but too late now and were stuck with him. Let’s hope he gets us in ‘aa each of next two years then decides to retire so we can move on!

Is yesterday's performance excusable for $2 million coach? What about a $3 million coach? Or is yesterday's result just simply inexcusable? Making it about his salary is as stupid today as it was two years ago. Unless you are paying him from your checking account, who cares how much he makes?!?!?

These people act like Barnes is taking money out their pockets. That 50% Vol Nike merch you got at Alumni Hall doesn’t go toward Rick’s salary. Nor does your Directv subscription. That one time you bought tickets from the scalper doesn’t either.

Oh, you’re a season ticket holder? You would have paid the same whether it was Barnes making $5 mill or Barnes making $3 mill.

I cannot understand why fans care so much what a coach gets paid. It. Ain’t. Your. Money.

This is such a silly argument. His salary makes it even more unacceptable. I’ll add every other coach at his pay level understands that once you cross four million in college basketball part of the job is looking mad when you are losing. Part of why Archie Miller is gone is that he had Rick Barnes “oh well I’m making bank so what do I care” attitude on the sideline.

Barnes underachieved this year. We get it. No one is defending that as far as I can tell.

But these asinine assumptions with no actual evidence are, well, asinine.

I doubt there is a “what do I care” bone in his body. Same for the kids on the floor yesterday. To jump to these conclusions is just silly. You’re mad. We get it. But be mad about stuff that is actually factual and provable.

Nothing in any of my comments suggests anger- in fact your comment is far more aggressive than any of my comments. I’m not mad at Barnes I’m frustrated at the people lying about Pearl to defend Barnes and lying about the quality of our program in order to pretend Vols couldn’t hire a talented replacement. I live in Texas I’ve seen Barnes up close I knew what we were getting when we hired him. He did fine under his original contract I just wish Fulmer hadn’t been overruled and Barnes had been allowed to leave for UCLA. We could have Keatts or dan Hurley now.

Because if Tennessee is willing to pay top 5 money for a basketball coach then the expectations should be and are higher. And if we are miss tournaments and get bounced in the first round, then maybe at that point we can see who might be available at $5M/year

Or somebody else...if they had turned us down.

Does it work the other way too?

Archie Miller is gone because he didn’t make the tournament. It had nothing to do with his “attitude”

You implied Barnes doesn’t care...that is silly.

You could have gone with the above and not implied he doesn’t care. I can’t argue with what you said above. It’s your opinion. We all have them. I will question whether we would have landed one of those guys or ended up way down the list. We aren’t the best at hiring 😂

Barnes is a solid coach with a Sweet 16 ceiling most seasons,

White should be demanding results in March for the salary that Tennessee is paying the Deacon.

I said Coach Barnes doesn’t look like he cares and demonstrating visible anger is part of the package at that pay group. This is entertainment after all. Actors in marvel movies shouldn’t have to have six pack abs but they all do because again it’s entertainment and at that pay level you better act and look the part.

The people that don’t get outside of Knoxville very much can’t see things as clearly as those of us that live elsewhere.

The ones that complain about a man’s salary are the biggest losers you could ever meet.

If your life revolves around how much a person makes, then that’s just honestly sad. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
