Recruiting visits and following on Twitter are not the same thing.
Its more than following on x . When Tess summer league coach called her dad and said they had big power five offer. Tess thought it was Alabama who lost out on
Madison Hayes who committed to Mississippi state. Alabama had checked in with Tess a few times. Did not say they offer do not know if they did or not. But Alabama talked to Tess few times. So when Tess dad got that call he was thinking it's Alabama. Never said they offer but they was more than following on x from Alabama. Two phone calls or more. Do not know one word Tess or Alabama said.

No visit is pretty telling.

It amazes me the useless point/counterpoint discussions that gets posted here. Mainly started by the negaladyvols posters trying to demean a player/coach/team to diminish their accomplishments.

Is Tess Darby a superstar? No. Is she an important role player for our team because of her ability to draw defenses out of the paint because of her ability to consistently make 3 point shots? Yes.

Yes, her defensive skills can be a liability at times, but she's improved them every year that she's been here and also developed a mid-range shot to add to her repertoire. Role players like her are important to our teams ability to succeed.

No need to look any farther than LSU this season to see what happens when you buy and load up a roster full of 5 stars and try to get them to play as a team.

Tess might wanted to visit Alabama. She visit West Virginia and Gerogia tech. Do not know if Alabama offer visit or not.Do not know the Darby's so I do not know in Tess wanting to visit Alabama.Do claim to have inside importation on Tess recruitment. But know Tess was ranked top 70 before bone bruise made her miss summer ball. Softmore year of high school.Have you read Tess Darby played the long game and won by 247 sports? @magors

You stating she’s a liability on defense undoes everything you said. Very negavol of you to take that stance. Most agree she’s a role player who needs to be successful in scoring with the minutes she plays.

All players have their plus/minuses. I think that I pointed out both. NegaLadyVols revel in pointing out/making up the minuses without mentioning/considering the pluses.

These kinds of stats can be a little iffy, but according to Her Hoop Stats, she's first on the team in defensive rating among players averaging at least 10 minutes/game and 1st in defensive win shares/40 minutes (these numbers may adjust themselves during the season, as last season she was last in defensive rating but first in offensive rating, and this season it's currently the reverse). She also historically doesn't foul - she's had the lowest foul rate on the team the last two seasons.

Tess's defense has improved and she some plays, steals etc, on defense. "Her problems" --not closing out on 3 pt shooters quickly enough and get beat off the dribble-- are shared by several other LVs but Tess gets the most fan grief.

The team has upgraded and Jewel is the better all round player and stretch the floor shooter and Sara has found her 3 pt touch. So, Tess is down the rotation a bit but she is still a very vital component to the team's overall success.

Tess 3 pt % needs to improve or she’s going to see her minutes dip. She seems to have a bit of a chip about some of the minutes distribution this season. Would like to see her be a leader with her attitude on the bench first. 28% from a three point specialist isn’t enough though. We know she’s capable of way better.

One of my very favorite on the team and she has potential to stretch any defense, but she’s in a slump. She’s had at least one before I can remember and when she came out of that one she was on FIRE. Just needs to relax and let it fly, she looks tense this season.

Alabama was reciting Tess. Read Tess Darby played the long game and won. . Do not know if they would take her or if Tess would went there .

So one other SEC program considered offering? Cool.

Good thing Kellie is playing chess while other coaches are playing checkers...

Never said did or not offer Tess. Just said they two or more times. As for interested by Tess Darby or Alabama do not know Darby's or Alabama s coaches SO also do not know if they considered or not. Most posters know you think Tennessee should have not sign Tess Darby. They talked two or time s

I followed her high school career closely.....Greenfield a small town is 30 miles from where I live. I never thought from the day she signed with UT she would be anymore than a average player at UT in the SEC. Not her fault...it's just her. She was better suited for a smaller school like UTM etc IMO.
You might have to eat crow before the end of the season. I hope you like crow, with a side order "we told you so." Once Tess gets over her slump, you will see how important Tess is to this team. GBO.

She was recruited to do more than she's done since she's been at UT....If she has a decent game every once in while I will assure you I won't eat crow....She wasn't recruited to have a good game every once in a while. We have enough of them on the team.

Again...I watched her during her HS career and never saw Major DI talent in her. Sorry that offends you.

I have to agree. I have seen her develop into a better defender at the post. Not on the floor.... and I have yet to see consistency in her shot.

I think KJH recruited Tess just to be a shooter. From what i saw on film when she was in high school 90% of her shot came from long range the same can be said for Pissott. Now with that said should Tess be a better all around player by now ? I would say yes. I just don't think TN has a player development coach on the staff that can make better offensive player. So who do i blame for her lack of skill the coach KJH.

Darby isn't a starter for a legitimate championship contender. Period.

Fans can get butthurt if they want, but the fact that there aren't enough SEC caliber players on the roster that she is being forced to start - in year 5 - is a serious indictment on Kellie's recruiting...

She is in a shooting slump. But to say she is not a better all around player is false. Her footwork as a defender, her defense, her rebounding have improved. She does the most with what she has. Also a leader in the huddles. Notice she is doing all the directing..

I disagree but we can agree to disagree,

Her shooting has been off, but she does have 32 rebounds in the six games we have played for 5.4 a game. So she is certainly helping there as that is a good total for two guard play. She has five steal and two blocks which is probably about right for her. Shooting was really good the previous two seasons. This one has started out horribly and that has to change she has to score from the three or someone else needs most of those minutes.

all that's well and good, but her role is supposed to be a long-range gunner and right now she is 7th on the team in 3 pt percentage
