I know there will be some here who think this is such a classy move on Coach Jones's behalf....but not me. I just disagree with rolling the carpet out for a young man who had countless chances here at UT to "grow up" and show "maturity" here at UT. He was given a long leash and did nothing but abuse it. Instead he was selfish and felt no allegiance to his team and ultimately got shown the door. I'm sorry but I think we should have left those ties severed. He cares nothing about being a VFL so please don't play that card. Go Vols!

It's more like he showed up. Small school kids do this all the time. Hughes was there too

Certain players shouldn't be given a "long leash" but I can see your point. I have no problem allowing the kid to come show his talents to pro scouts for a day. I may pick him up on my fantasy team someday.

yeah UT should deny the kid the opportunity to show his talents in front of NFL scouts simply because he wasn't able to stay in Knoxville. If there's one think UT should be known for it's punishing young men who made a mistake

DR hurt his team and program by being selfish and a dumbass, but wants back in now so he can showcase his talents. He could've found another pro day somewhere.
I have no problem with kids around the area coming in that respect the opportunity to get on Neyland field to try and make it. I have a problem with people or players who **** on something, but want to come back and take advantage of another opportunity after ******** on the first one/s.

how did he hurt the program? He basically carried the team as the only receiver for a season but that's forgotten after a piss test over half of campus would fail

he messed up and then owned up to it. The UTAD felt comfortable enough allowing him to use their facilities. Good enough for me

On the surface I wonder too why they let him partke in the proday.
Without knowing the full details its hard to judge. Maybe he reached out and was contrite if thats the case why not give the kid a shot.

Yeah after all this is the land of 2nd chances.....and 3rd,4th,5th..... Get real! You sarcastically mentioned being "known for for punishing players"...there is something to be said for a program who emphasizes "accountability". I'd much rather be known for that instead of a program that's better known for it's team arrests records, etc!

he was an infection in the locker room. He tweeted junk all the time and ran his mouth nonstop. He showed no respect for his teammates, coaches, university or program, but now he wants to come back so he can try and make some $.
By their policy, I don't know that they would turn anyone away. I just think its amusing that someone that wanted so much to be gone, all of a sudden wants back.

I would not have allowed him to be at UT for Pro Day. He lost his chance to stand on the big stage when he could not follow the rules. I have little doubt he was given more chances than most any other kid would have got at UT. If he wanted to showcase his talent, he should have followed the rules or asked the pro scouts to come to TT and see him workout. IMO, same goes for any kid who was booted from Tennessee.

I have a friend who's son is a great athlete, but was booted from highschool and had to transfer to a school that has an inferior athletic program. I wonder if his old HS will let him come back for camps to work out for college recruiters.

Hmmm...I wonder if all the people who think Da'Rick shouldn't be allowed back think the same about Dooley?

For my part, I don't know what went down behind the scenes or why he got kicked off. Does anyone have any solid evidence or want to cite credible sources that explain the whole story? What I do know is that if not for Da'Rick's miraculous one handed catch in the endzone on 4th and goal, we lose twice to James Franklin. To my mind, that alone means he should be welcome to come back to our pro day anytime he wants.

People have to have something to gripe about. Its not like he as been here training or working out with the team for the last 3 months. Good Lord...

Da'Rick was a great receiver for us and is a prime example of what you get with completely abysmal leadership by dooley. We really needed him last year but im glad he was let go because we in turn let dooley go. Wish him well in the NFL and hope he doesnt turn his back on UT, we could use the exposure for giving him his opportunity. Some of you posters just baffle me. Bash the only talented players we have had, Da'Rick, Bray, etc. and wonder why nobody wants to rep UT.
