Darius Thompson to start tomorrow vs Xavier

Who thought it would be a good idea to open the season at Xavier? This is a terrible idea, IMO. I have no issues playing there, but it shouldn't be the first game. The last thing CCM needs this season is a third straight slow start, and that's exactly what I fear will happen if we lose this game. I hope the decision pays off big time for whoever made it with a nice win for us, but we should be playing someone like Tennessee Tech tomorrow and save the Xavier road trip for mid-December.

I get your point. But, we are a seasoned team with a lot of mature producers. In theory, This should be an advantage for us generally. Now when you are a young team with uncertainty at various places, I would totally agree.
Good chance this was scheduled this way on purpose. At least if I was seeing things 2-3 yes out, I would want this.
For example, I would much rather play UK as early as possible, not after their FR have 20 games of college experience.
That said, I hope we come to play right outta the gate this year.

I want to say I'd rather play UK earlier too for the reason you gave, but CCM's teams have played much better late in the season after starting slowly.
Very few "BCS" programs will have a season opener as difficult as ours.

You act like Xavier has played 10 games already. You got to start somewhere. Tech would be another cupcake. Time to play!

I'm not saying we can't or won't beat them, and I'm not suggesting that we don't travel to man up and play good teams.

I just think it's a big risk for a program that has started the past two seasons slowly.

This is a gamble that will pay off nicely if we win.

Game is huge, been saying it for months. This as close to a must win game as you can have in November IMO.

I hope so, cause if we lose this place ain't gonna be fun lol.

People will ignore the fact that Xavier is actually favored in this game and that we are the underdog. Now with that said I am optimistic, but this game IMO is the difference between 20 win 8/9 seed and 25 win 4/5 seed.

How much are they favored by?

Yes, this is a very big swing game.

I wonder if we'll run our offensive sets with Thompson at point. CCM said we didn't run any of them in the exhibition games. Will be interesting to see how many minutes Barton gets.

I don't think Thompson is ready for the test he'll face tonight. Xavier by 7 to 10 points.

I would expect us to run some sets. Martin did that on purpose in the 2 exhibitions to purposely try and force our guys to make something happen on their own.

I think Barton plays 25 and Thompson 15.

You realize Barton is gonna play right?

I don't think he's quite 100 percent; I'm also inclined to say it wouldn't matter all that much even if he was. A solid backcourt tends to play better at home, and I just don't think we're ready for a road test like this just yet.
